Title: doomrl on IRC
Post by: mikee on October 12, 2011, 07:25
Some members of the crawl community have recently become interested in doomrl, and we have started a channel on freenode: ##doomrl.

I know there is a channel already on quakenet that some people use, but it doesn't seem to have much activity and of course some people may prefer freenode.  So please feel free to join; any type of player is welcome.

It does not have much activity sometimes... seriously, it is not dead. And it can be kind of busy at times. So... why not use it?

Huh... why not make it more active then, and unite instead of starting a seperate channel? :D
And it's not like #chaosforge is inactive though... I come over there a lot, and my backlog is usually very richly filled after some hours.

Crawl's fascination with DoomRL isn't new :p.  We had sorear hanging around for a while in the 099 days.

#chaosforge is generally pretty active when everyone's awake.  Modding talk has been big lately and every now and then people actually talk about playing the game too.

I didn't realize #chaosforge had a good amount of activity still.  I went there once and there was none - apparently everyone was asleep at the time.  Well I could encourage people to migrate to the quakenet channel, as long as no one minds an influx of newbies.

The activity on #chaosforge is in state of flux - there are times when everybody is either sleeping or lurking and minding their own business, and there are times when they are talking, sometimes a lot. Either way having the community split between two channels is not a way of encouraging activity :P So yeah bring on the newbies, we won't eat them... tthey're too stringy ;P
