If the conditions are to be random, might as well make it so that there's a chance on spawn for it to be wieldable period, and most chances will not be able to wield it.
As in like: For every time it spawns, have a 90-98% Chance for it to always fail at being wieldable no matter what, and a 2-10% chance to always succeed at wielding regardless of conditions. That way if you see it spawn and can't seem to wield it, you know you were never meant to wield it that time, and don't have to worry about conditions that you may never figure out.
As it currently is, Dragonslayer shouldn't be needed for a Medium-Hard Badge such as Gold. It should be for something harder, like Platinum or Diamond, especially since there's no spoilers to be found unless they're outdated. And if the requirements keep changing due to people figuring it out, then eventually you will run out of easy/near-obvious conditions for it and resort to methods so cryptic, NO ONE will figure it out.

I wasn't asking for a spoiler, I was asking for a hint. If I can't even get a hint then I can at least go with the theories I haven't tried yet(I tried 2 of them to no avail).
Edit: I'm going to go for Vash the Stampede Badge.(Ao666 with 90% Kills on HMP as a Pistol Master) This time I'll try either Gun Kata or Bullet Dance. Hopefully Dragonslayer doesn't spawn this time. I'm going to keep an extra pistol with me just in case.
Reddit: It'sKind of a(very huge) buzzkill to find dragonslayer and not be able to pick it up. The conditions for wielding it should be the same for it spawning in the first place in my opinion, which would mean that it would never spawn unless you met the conditions.

I just got technician Diamond by completing the last master assembly I needed: Biggest F*ing Gun(BBFF). I did that part yesterday on floor 88. I also Found Dragonslayer on floor 136, but couldn't pick it up. I had 100% Kills up to the time I found Dragonslayer. I ended up killing myself on Floor 137 because I couldn't handle the stress of not being able to pick up dragonslayer. I've got a question though: Is Technician Diamond THE absolutely easiest diamond badge? If not, then what is the EASIEST diamond badge? I also noticed that the game started showing me the list of Angelic Badges as soon as I ended this run, when previously it hid them. I wonder if they get unlocked at first diamond? I unfortunately didn't make it to Experience Level 25 for Experience Medal/Badge, nor did I qualify for Lone Gunman/Vash the Stampede Badge(since I died way before 666). If Dragonslayer hadn't dropped, or if it had let me wield it, I definitely would've finished Ao666, probably even with YAAM.
The part that sucks the most is I didn't get credit for Specials found. Do I need to be wielding DS to get credit for Armorer Gold?

I just found Dragonslayer, but I can't pick it up.(Ao666) What Gives?
I already tried picking it up with G and U(neither work), I unequipped everything and killed everything(I think I still have YAAM status atm)
I have 5 Theories:
1. I need to be wielding the Rocket Launcher first.(Unfortunately none of them have spawned on this floor and I don't have one in inventory)
2. I need to go grab that Berserk Pack at some point.
3. I can just descend the stairs and it'll either automatically equip or I can find it again on a later floor.
4. I should commit suicide through either using Q or by killing myself by lava/acid and it'll equip automatically.
5. I should either blow up all the barrels or use up all the powerups on the current floor.
Are any of my five theories true? Or are all of them false?

« on: August 31, 2014, 08:45 »I recently tried to figure out the timing of some actions and it came out all wrong with respect to what I observed in the game, so I gave up trying. That being said...
You forgot to turn the Phaseshift boots into Anti-Gravity boots and then add an additional agility mod afterward. :)
What a coincidence! I just made a comic on that subject! :D

Good Job! If you'd have doubled your dungeon level(with the same kill rate) and gotten to level 16, you'd have the Hobo Bronze Badge just like me!
And yes, I remember that you're the one who's notorious for being one of the few to lose a DoomRL Game to power failure.
Also, I just noticed that getting to level 8-9 on N! or even UV is harder than reaching 26 on HMP. I'll lower the requirement for Bronze/copper on UV/N! in future challenges(if i can come up with more)

Discussion / Limits to speed: Movement, Firing and Reloading

I currently have a 0.10s firing time from my pistols. Will one more level of finesse lower this, or will it be capped at 0.1s per shot?
I'm also wondering what the limits are to Fast Movement speeds, Firing Speeds and Reloading speeds. Do they Cap at 0.10s or can they be faster?
For those who want to have fun: Make a Bulk Modded Plasma Shotgun, make sure you do not have shottyman or reloader, unload the shotgun, grab invincibility, and Alternate Reload the Plasma Shotgun!
Or: Wear the Full Gothic set with no levels in hellrunner and use the run command to go all the way across the level!

I'd like to try my hand at AoSh UV(possibly even N!). Will Intuition 2 start without AoMC be fine or too weak? Note that I probably wont be able to get shottyman until level 5.

Honestly, I'm perfectly fine with both a list system or a grid diablo 3 system. If it's going to be the latter, then make it so we can rotate items, and also make all items either square or rectangular in space(as in No L-shapes or T-shapes). And don't have a ton of sellable weapons/armour drop that clog up the inventory with only 2-10 items. If there is no selling to shop in this game, then lots of weapon/armour drops wouldn't be a problem for me with the diablo/RE4 system. There can still be a buy from shop case(you can buy, but not sell) like in zelda.
One of the things I hated about diablo 2(not diablo 3) is that it only took 5-10 weapons/armour to clog the inventory, and the weapons/armour themselves are worth at least some money, and have lower quality gear than typical starting/commonly worn gear.

Why not have a multi-list system that has 2-4 columns, and when the first column is full, use up the next column. If there's only 1 space left on the first column, the next BFG(or large slot item) goes on the next column, but the next ring(or small slot item) finishes the first column.
It looks kinda like this:
Edit: The Name text would obviously be replaced by a graphic of the said gun/item. Detail/name text can be placed on the item icon, with details in highlighted tooltip. The reason why the items don't have graphics in the above example is because it's ASCII, and it's super hard to draw a gun using only 2-4 lines, especially if there's going to be item text.

"-" and "=" are to distinguish different items that take up multiple slots.
In this case: BFG9k takes up 4 slots, Pistol takes 2, Ammo Box takes 2 and Small Ring takes up only 1.

Here's another YASD for the Same Challenge: Trying to cross lava just to get to a bridge is obviously suicide. There was one Napalm barrel on the bridge, and one tile of lava between land and the bridge. I stepped on the tile of lava at 80+% Health, then I was instakilled by a combo of Revenant Rocket, an exploding Napalm Barrel and standing in lava. At least I got farther than my MAD run.(quick speed is arguably better than slightly more damage) Also, I got Hobo Bronze and Copper as well. I know one of the attacks between the Mancubus and the Revenant missed, but i figured it was the mancubus that missed since revenants never miss.
Also, I'm no longer a Hell Baron after this Run. Now I'm the much-loathed Arch Vile.

I'm going to drop the Tactical Shotgun in favour of Assault Shotgun since Assault Shotgun is moddable and Tactical Shotgun is not.
I'm probably going to use my Nanoshrapnel on a Regular Shotgun unless you recommend using it on a different shotgun.

Tactical Shotgun and Assault Shotgun both don't require pumping.
Tactical Shotgun deals slightly more damage then Assault Shotgun, but has 1 less shell capacity.
Which one is better?(Especially for Shottyheads)
Edit: I also wish to know which of these shotguns should I make nano shrapnel(super shotgun not available yet, would be the obvious choice though):

I find the Slot+List system quite viable, as long as it doesn't have large numbers(or decimal numbers) like the ADOM Weight System. A pistol, for example, should be 1-8 slots, not 1750grams or stones or whatever. And Inventory space SHOULD have NO Impact on movement speed unless said inventory item is currently equipped. Volume-based inventory is always more preferred than weight-based in my opinion.
Reason for this: I Played ADOM, and found tonnes of weapons and armour I'd like to sell, but I always ended up overburdened, having to take multiple trips in and out of the dungeon just to sell stuff. Worst off, I could never run away from enemies because my inventory was usually full, and even worse, teleports are super rare in that game. I hate being forced to travel light just to have a combat advantage, especially with so many items that come from corpses(alot of them junk, such as rotten corpses or cursed items).

I believe that if it counts against YAAM, then it should give experience. I hate it when Monster Spawning Levers never give experience. I used to farm them 1-3 times per lever until I found out that I wasn't getting any experience. But then again, Nightmare is supposed to be *technically* unfair.
I got a question though: is the difficulty difference between UV and N! greater in Classic Doom, Doom 2 or DoomRL?
