Discussion / Re: MUAHAHAHAH!!
« on: June 17, 2017, 11:20 »
Is there a way to get the mortem after Ive already moved on? Build ws Int2->dodgemaster->shottyman->shottyhead (for the record this is the ONLY build Ive *ever* been able to win with) I had cybernetic armor, tactical boots, bfg9k, tactical shotgun, and missile launcher.

But what happened is I had gotten the bfg 9000 (cant remember what special level spawned it), 2 levels later I found a nano-pack (first one Ive ever seen), put it on the bfg9k, then every time I saw an X, I shot it, then waited in place till it recharged.

The spider mastermind was a dumbass, I would just go around a wall and he would just wait on the other side of said wall, so I had plenty of time to recharge, pop out with a shot, duck back, go around another corner, and wait to recharge again.

I got my first ever nanopack today... and I put it on my  bfg 9000.... Combined with intuition 2? Lets just say I didnt take a single point of damage the rest of the run.

It wasnt just this time though, I have it happen a LOT where an enemy will just somehow kill me from full health in one hit.

Discussion / what causes enemies to sometimes do INSANE damage?
« on: October 06, 2015, 16:57 »
My most common death is when an enemy will just suddenly do like 10 times the amount of damage it normally does. Like just the last run, I had found a stash of insane items (an assualt shotgun, nyarly's boots, gothic armor, and a supercharge sphere. Feeling like god incarnate now, I go to find something to slaughter. An imp steps out around a corner.... and kills me in one hit. WTF WTF WTF RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGE *table flip*

Fire resistance protects you from direct rocket hits? I did not know this O.O

I simply stand no chance of killing this guy without the ability to dodge his rockets. How do you do it without dodgemaster?

I hate to say it, cause I appreciate all the advice, but you guys arent saying anything I dont already know and use... and still fail horribly with XD.

What does your average inventory screen look like during any given game?

1 spare armor, 4-6 medkits (dep. on difficulty), 1 alternate weapon (usually rocket launcher) with 2 ammo stacks, up to 2 mod packs waiting for a weapon (like if I am doing shotguns, I will have a P&T until I find that combat shotgun), 1-2 slots for special items (arena master staff, phase kit, etc), the rest primary ammo.

Well, I think the game felt sorry for me. I finally had an easy run XD.

Had invincibility globes going into each of the boss fights, found energy vest on 2nd level, maleks armor and gothic boots on 1st level of deimos, and a jackhammer on the first level of hell with plenty of ammo everywhere.

Best run Ive ever had.

Yep, looked at those. Ive emulated the exact tactics of all the best players out there, but it just doesnt seem to work as well for me. Now I will say that I have basically documentable proof that RNG's hate me. If something depends on a programs RNG, I will generally only be at about 25% of the average success rate. I am the living incarnation of murphys law when it comes to RNG's and game bugs XD.

There is no one enemy that gives me trouble, its ususally just attrittion, or sudden random excessive damage. I will say its rare for me to die to the big baddies, its most often that one surprise shotgunner from around the corner or something equally stupid, or that barrel around the other corner I didnt even know was there.

One thing that really gets me though, is I find once in a while an enemy will just randomly do a butt-ton more damage than they should, like an imp that might normally do 5-15% suddenly hits for 40%. I think Im too stingy with my healthpacks... I find myself running around with <50% health far too often -.-

As for my builds, the ONLY build I have ever actually won with is shotgun/dodgemaster build, but even thats unreliable because of late game ammo issues. I've tried out pretty much every build out there, but none of them seem to work for me but that one. I can do really well with dualgunner builds... until the bruiser brothers. My last one I had 2 SoB, 2 SoG, and dualgunner, and took out one of them before the other got in melee and just wrecked me. Rapid fire builds are good, but I can rarely make it to the midgame with them to get to the point where they actually work. Melee builds are fun, but completely unworkable, i usually die by the 3rd level.

I just dont get it. Is the game supposed to be truly *THAT* hard? Ive played hundreds of games, use all the expert tactics, can quote basically every item, trait, and boss tactic... and yet I've only won a small handful of times even on ITYTD...

Discussion / Re: too little ammo in hell levels?
« on: January 18, 2015, 15:41 »
Only 4 medkits? Wow.

My inventory up until hell is usually 6 medkits (which get used and replaced with alarming frequency), 1 spare armor (rarely changed out given frequency of repair kits), 2 mods (for when I find that one perfect weapon), a rocket launcher with 3 ammo stacks, leaving 9 slots for my primary ammo (usually shotgun). Once I hit hell, the ammo starts dropping off really fast because there is little to no ammo drops.

Doing AoSh gives the 6 extra ammo slots (mods usually been used by now and no rocket) and I still run out. And as far as ammo BOXES go? They are STUPIDLY rare. In all my runs, Ive seen a rocket box once, a bullet box once, and a shell box like 3 times.

« on: January 18, 2015, 13:59 »
So I can semi-reliably beat the game on im too young to die, but if I go to any higher difficulty (extreme save scumming required of course) I find almost no ammo once i reach hell, and am usually stuck by the 3rd to 5th level because I have no ammo now!

How do you beat the game when there just isnt enough ammo to power any build other than melee?

I didnt know about the @ command, thx. Also didnt know there was anyway for enemies to spawn after map creation on anything lower than nightmare?

Its not anything to do with special levels anyway. I do runs without a single special level and it still happens, but I will give it another go now that I know of the @ command.
