Requests For Features / Re: Shell
« on: December 21, 2006, 20:34 »
ADOM has tons of extra commands, so does NetHack. Most seem useless at the start, but you end up using lots of them. The one thing that I'd like to see is a switchable status bar at the bottom, ala ADOM, that you can use to see your experience/level, time in game, etc.
As for the inventory system, it is only one page, so it doesn't seem useful to combine stuff into multi-window stuffs. Oh, and I was wondering, does it save you time when swapping weapons to prepare one first?

Discussion / Missing pictures?

I happen to have a picture for the Archvile and the Pain Elemental, both of which are sadly missing from the lineup. They are both from in-game and I have converted them to ASCii, if anyone is interested in them? Hint Hint!

there's the original.
I cant figure out how to make it show the ASCii version :(

Bug Reports / Re: Got two here I didn't see in other posts.

Couldn't honestly tell ya without retesting it myself which item made the tactics "sticky". But it was one of them, and it slightly annoyed me.

Bug Reports / Got two here I didn't see in other posts.

Almost forgot: I play v0.9.8.5 on WinXP with sound.
A minor bug I noticed...
When you grab an invulnerability or berserk pack, then get the bright idea of saving the game to come back later, it DOESN'T remember you are berserker or invincible. I lost a few characters now to that, come back, expecting to kick ass and chew bubblegum, but instead get my ass handed to me!
Meh, that's the way the cookie crumbles, I guess.
Edit: I was trying to remember the other bug, now I do.
When you go berserk from berserk packs, you go aggro. When you get berserk from a large medkit, (on AoB) it does the same. But... when you berserk by getting life globes, it keeps your current tactic. I dont know how many "Coward" mode berserkings i've had playing AoB now, but it's a few...

Pre-0.9.9 / [H|AoB] My first victory against teh Hell!
« on: December 17, 2006, 12:37 »
After frustrating numbers of attempts at getting past L5 on Berserk mode, (for the rank), something finally goes right!
I opted out of the Arena, because of repeated deaths there.
Once I got ahold of the chainsaw though, Massacre time!
I had made it once to the Unholy Cathedral before, (you can't pull the trigger!)
so this time I went for it. I had one large med pack and new red armor,
managed to kill the Angel of Death, Woot! Spear of Doom!
Up to there, it was touch and go for healing and armors.
I figured I'd make a save after, "just in case."
Then I mistakenly went into the Mortuary... OMFG!
Cleared it on my first try, went left, berserked my way through a huge crowd of nasties,
then realized there were Superchargers and berserks in the corners.
My only phase device deposited me near the right corner, so I berserk-killed my way back to the middle.
I just LOVE how enemies kill each other with area-effect weapons if you do it right! (Just like Doom!)
Yes! Leet armorz!
Anyway, I made it to Cybie with what you see in my backpack, minus one large medpack to berserk him toe-to-toe.
I have some stuff I'm wondering now...
Does it not count my challenge game as winning, (rank-wise)? It says I have beaten the game twice, but to get the next army rank, I need to win the game.
Might that be related to the standard vs. full win, whatever a "full win" is?
I bet the full win takes a thermonuclear device, lol.
I did find one once, but I wasn't brave enough to use it.
Oh ya, almost forgot...
Ultra Violence is ridiculous.
PS: After playing a bit of actual Doom II, I have discovered that the invisible enemies are none other than our friend, the Demon! `Cept in this case he's called a Spectre!
