You see those stairs next to my corpse on the map below? That was the entrance to the freakin' Chained Court! AAARRRGH! Sooo freakin' close! :( The extra "S's" in the thread title stand for "Stupid Stupid Stupid!" :P Could've been a really sweet berserker diamond too otherwise.
(Oh well)
Anyway, I had a phenomenally lucky build-up to Hell's Arena. Picture this: On level 2, there were three vaults, two full of demons and the other full of cacodemons and four berserk packs! I brought myself up to character level 4 just from those vaults and got my marine pimped out with some nice gear. I entered the arena still berserk and carrying three blue armours and 4 large med-packs. My strategy in the arena: Each time I killed a cacodemon, I would stand over its corpse so that the next cacodemon that shot at me would destroy the body, so it couldn't regenerate. Taking advantage of the extra armour from zerking, I cleared the arena of demons and cacodemons this way. Things got tense when facing the barons because my berserk ran out and didn't come back, but I had juuuuust enough med-packs and armour to survive it. Even with the crazy armanents I went in with, I came out with 44% health, all my med-packs gone, and one suit of blue armour left at 4%.

Very nice! Those vaults sure are tasty experience, now that we open them ourselves instead of having the enemies just pour out.
did you use your homing phase earlier, or was it too dangerous to get?

I accidentally wasted it. :( (Oops!) And it's never dangerous to get the gear that appears at the end of Hell Arena. I've beat Hell Arena at Nightmare a few times now and the enemies stop regenerating once you've been declared champion.
