Well, DoomRL has a Quick Questions Thread, so I decided to start one for DiabloRL so I don't feel bad about starting individual threads for posting one or two questions. ;)

I'll start off with my own question, which has been bugging me for a while:
When a piece of equipment has a +X% to AC, does the listed AC include the +X% AC bonus?
Example: I'm looking at a Valiant Armor of the Moon [12], which also gives +4 to All Stats and +59% AC.

Rarity does not equate to usefulness. Also with a 10d6 damage range, of course it's going to have varying results. I think it's mostly situational, like getting rid of a lot of corpses in one shot in Mortuary, but you can also use a skull to do that for you. It's good for getting rid of corpses that aren't near walls for you to shoot at with rockets, I guess.

Can't say I've used the BFG much outside of dinking around on 100/666. I don't use plasma weapons that much anyway.

Nice win.

In 0.9.9.6, BFG9k used to appear at City of Skulls after hitting the lever that drops all the walls. Using that on Agony Elemental sure was fun.

To each their own. I felt Marksman Platinum was easier than some of the other Platinums I've gotten up to this point. Barring...Armorer Platinum, I guess.

I got lucky with Power mods spawning and I was going for Gunrunner, so thought why not. It's great for corner shooting.

The elephant gun wasn't the cause of me dying though. It was skill/abysmal luck with the RNG. I reloaded safely then moved in that game.

I still wouldn't have made an elephant gun at that point. You don't want to spend 2.5s reloading a weapon that you can only fire once before having to reload. If you were hellbent on getting an elephant gun at some point then I would have thrown just one P mod onto that shotgun for the time being, and then only assemble the elephant gun after having gotten Shottyman, or at least Rel2. Good on ya for cornershooting and stuff but I still think it's too dangerous to be cornershooting with an elephant gun that early on especially since you chose to get Dodgemaster as opposed to Shottyman. Just what I think.

Phases don't spawn that reliably that early on...and if phases do spawn, it's more than likely that those darn formers have hogged them all.

I'm not sure if toting an elephant shotgun around with no points into Reloader is a good idea though. That thing has an abysmal reload time. But I love it over the tac shotty.

It's 1000 freaking exotics/uniques, man.
By the time it takes for you to farm those exotics on OC, you probably could have gotten another "easy" Platinum, like Technician. Marksman Platinum isn't that hard either but maybe I'm just biased.

If you're really in a rush to get Armorer Platinum then may I suggest playing runs of AAo666?

In my opinion the differences between CoS and AP are the most varied of paired special stages so far, and runner-up is probably Deimos Lab/Hell's Armory. I greatly prefer AP over CoS, just like how I typically prefer Limbo over Mortuary, but I won't say any more until you've witnessed AP for yourself.

Question: How did you clear Abyssal Planes with Sharpshooter? I've only had city of skulls so far, haven't seen an Abyssal Planes spawn, but I imagine they're pretty similar.

Strategy-wise, that is. I tend to get swarmed in there when I use anything but a shotty/melee build, and either use all my medipacks/armor or die.

CoS is actually a lot different compared to AP. I won't spoil it though, since you haven't seen AP yet.
What I will say is that, AP has a hub in the middle where the stairs are also at, and Agony hangs out there. There are double doors leading into the hub on both sides, so after I cleared out everything else that was outside of the hub, I basically camped at the door, took out the missile launcher I kept from Containment Area, waited for Agony Elemental to enter my LOS, and fired at the oversized magenta blimp. After AE exploded, it was a matter of just picking off the rogue LSes/PEs while still camping at the door.

If you're wondering about my trait build, I was intending to go toward Berserker. Conqueror would have been hilarious but I didn't have enough ammo to attempt Arena. WK2 probably would have boosted my DPS though, since that meant I could have thrown more mods on my P2 pistol. I was hoping for a P3B2 pistol, but Armory gave me 1P, 1B and 2T, and I needed the +2 AC at the time. Still waiting for a MSs run where I get Deimos Lab; I almost always get Deimos Lab when I'm running Scout. :|

God this game is frustrating. I don't remember the last time I won. Needed a break from losing on Angel of motherfuggin' Humanity and I thought this would be fun. It was until the part where I got hit twice and then I cussed up a storm.

It could be that too, although most monster AIs such as Revs will always try to get closer on a move.

I have never seen a Revenant move closer toward me after seeing me. It always stops and keeps firing as long as I remain in its LOS.
Are Revenants the Siege Tanks of DoomRL, I wonder...

My first Diamond was Technician Diamond. I figure I can manage Scavenger Diamond but that requires me to get into the UV groove again.

As for Scavenger Diamond and your means of getting it, I think it's a secret that people can figure out after maybe thinking about it, but it's not a secret that must be kept secret like the Dragonslayer is. That's just my take on it, since I've posted a mortem about Scavenger Platinum and people talked about it for a while.

I don't know the details on how to pick it up either, but it really doesn't bother me as much as some people.

These days I find it's in good practice to start to learn how knockback with shotguns work so you can use it on those pesky hell knights/barons on higher difficulties so the Arena Master doesn't revive them.

There are these semi-rare occasions where I'll go looking for the Arena Master and turns out the bugger is either directly north or south of the starting hub. Most other times he's on the far western wall. I wish he'd make up his mind on where his happy place is.
