That reminds me- in the Wall, the Lava Pits, and I'm not sure which other bonus levels, the level name doesn't turn blue/flash "You feel relatively safe now." on the message box.

Some rumours though, say that the Cyberdemon was killed already!
Is he immortal? 1 souls claim to have killed him...
1 killed the bastard and survived.

I'll be honest, nothing too noteworthy about this win, except for the fact I accidentally skipped the Halls of Carnage at level 12 because I wasn't paying attention.
Kornel: I'm not sure if this is a bug or a feature (or something intended to prevent an easy way to the SUPRE SEEKRIT endguy), but using the Angel Arm against the Cyberdemon killed me, too.

Skipped the Wall (didn't know if Baron of Hell/Hell Knight plasma bolts can destroy walls at the time. Yeah. They can.), City of Skulls, Unholy Cathedral, The Vaults, and the Mortuary (not crazy enough.) This post inspired by Thomas's AoRA post. =p
Why is it that shit goes down on Phobos every week like clockwork? Didn't matter- UAC sends the Crazy Eights squad out to check out the disturbance at the new base. As soon as we get there, the squad leader tells me, "Jehon! Make yourself useful and call out for pizza!" They grab all the heavy weapons, and I'm stuck outside with just my sidearm- a classic Beretta G22, modified by my good buddy Shido in Hygiene Squad to take more after-market parts than usual. (He calls them "mod kits," but whatever.)
The squad gets taken down one by one by... something. I go on into the base, and boom. Firefight from the word go. Reanimated soldiers, zombo shotgun guys, hideously deformed spiked monstrosities throwing fireballs, all waiting for me. Swapped some 10mm upside their heads, moved on. Picked up another pistol early on, and for some reason, didn't think to actually start using that until this brutal arena battle. I, uh, I guess it was Hell's Gladiators, or something- that big freaky voice didn't say.
These demons- or whatever the hell they are/were- had some interesting ideas for worship. There was a chainsaw in a beam of light at one point, and a shrine to everybody's favorite boomstick, the BFG. Claimed that for my own, but tossed it a few floors down when I realized it was taking up room (I never had training on that thing, anyway. Hope UAC doesn't find out about that.)
Didn't have too much trouble- anything that moved, I filled with lead- up until the base started getting truly freaky, around sixteen floors deep. Fat, disgusting pustules of flesh, with rocket launchers. Armored skeletons with rocket launchers. Back-from-the-dead members of Crazy Eights trying to melt me with plasma rifles. Stood my ground, fragged 'em all like a really bad action movie.
Then the scary shit. Archviles. Intel had sketchy claims that they could bring back whatever I brought down, as well as light me on fire with barely a thought. Experienced both of that first-hand. (Note to intel: You said these archviles couldn't bring other archviles back to life. I beg to differ.)
The archviles really started to become a problem on level 21. I had an invulnerability doohickey up and running, I had a big-ass nuke, I had my solution. UAC had a heart attack when they heard I used one of their planetbuster bombs to fricassee some hellspawn. (Hey, no kill like overkill, right?!)
Finally, after slaughtering my way through demons and twisted spider-like technological... things, I hit the Bottom. It looked like an arena. On the Home Team, me. On the Away Team... It. Fortunately, I still had one of those experimental invulnerability doohickeys up, so I stepped into the arena.
"It's down to you and me now, you twelve-ton FREAK!" I shouted. It fired back with a rocket launcher the size of a bus. Funny, they didn't hurt as much when I had that white shield thing up. Without it... aarrrgh. Went through two sets of that nice red Teflar armor. We exchanged shots for a while, and one of its rockets smashed me clean against the arena wall. I knew we were both hit pretty bad, and I decided, "Hey, I'm not going down today." Raised both guns, started screaming and shooting, and when I notice I'm out of ammo, I see the Cyberdemon (Intel's name, not mine. I prefer "Goat Fucker.") falling and screaming and exploding.
His skull's now a pretty interesting pencil holder.
I'm not gonna bore you with the story of how I got out of Hell, just suffice it to say that even after all that, that Kisielewicz in Chaos Squad gets promoted to Sergeant over me.

Before him 33 brave souls have ventured into Phobos:
31 of those were killed.
And 2 couldn't handle the stress and committed a stupid suicide.
--------------------------------------------------------------
The good luck: Finding the Trigun before going to Hell, and the Grammaton Beretta while in Hell. Somehow, Archviles don't sound quite as scary when you have the combined forces of Vash the Stampede and John Proctor dealing 3d6+6 and (1d8+6)x3 per burst of fire (for an average of 48 damage, if my math is right). Didn't quite get to test that mini-arsenal on the Cyberdemon. The bad luck: Getting cornered by mancubi. Near barrels. Going down with so many large medpacks on me wasn't exactly fun, either. Probably would have been helped if I had the Antifreak Jackal spawn, but with this incarnation of Rick Jehon's luck, it probably would have spawned eventually. =p
Memorable Moment: Getting to the City of Skulls with a thermonuke, and shouting "Yeah! Motherfuckers OD'd!" after surviving the ensuing explosion. (This was revenge for my last character, who got torn apart at the City while reloading his guns.)
Observations: When dualgunning with the Grammaton or the Trigun, put the SUPRE SPESHUL gun in your Prepared slot, otherwise you don't quite get the intended effect of Special Reloading. (The Grammaton went in the Prepared slot because the Special Reload changes its fire mode. The Trigun's Special Reload is the Angel Arm, which refusing simply reloads both guns for you.)
Obliterating a bonus level also destroys your reward (not that I was planning on using the BFG , but I wound up destroying the Angelic Armor in one playthrough. O well, at least those Archviles went down for the count.)
The Halls of Carnage and The Wall both spawned in this playthrough, but I didn't go through them (no rockets, and I was aiming for 100% kill rate.)

Look Mode tells you what's on the other side of the red stairs.
No skin off my nose either way- I found enough damage mods for the pistol on the way down, and City of Skulls is actually better suited for shotguns.

Before him 41 brave souls have ventured into Phobos:
39 of those were killed.
1 of those was killed by something unknown.
And 1 couldn't handle the stress and committed a stupid suicide.
--------------------------------------------------------------
(Un)fortunately, my victory is tainted by the fact that I was too cowardly to face Hell's Arena, The Wall, The Halls of Carnage, The Unholy Cathedral, and The Mortuary. (Okay, maybe that one's more like "wasn't crazy enough.") City of Skulls and, tragically for me, Hell's Armory, never spawned this go round.
Side note: Arachnotrons, Barons of Hell, Mancubi, and even The Big One aren't so bad when you're doing 2d7+3/2d4+3 per round.
Yes, that is a nuke in my itempack. No, I didn't use it. I wanted to live =p
Right next to each other, we needed to reload. I was probably gonna die at that close range, so I had a Saving Private Ryan moment: I said "Fuck it," reloaded just one gun, and started shooting. First shot nailed Cybie between the headlights.

Knights of the Old RepubLic:
Choose target... Target: Darth Malak (lightly wounded) [m]ore... You use Force Storm on Darth Malak! Darth Malak is hit! Darth Malak is hit! Darth Malak is critically hit! Darth Malak is hit! Darth Malak misses you. You critically hit Darth Malak with your Lightsaber (2d8+6)! You critically hit Darth Malak with your Short Lightsaber (2d6+5)! Darth Malak dies. Congratulations! You defeated Darth Malak!
In all honesty, StarWarsRL would work if based on the Knights of the Old Republic era (or at least uses the Soldier/Scoundrel/Scout/Jedi Guardian/Jedi Sentinel/Jedi Consular class system).

BDR/Tisiphone: One time, and one time only, I had the chainsaw when I picked up an Invulnerability Sphere. The only time (besides Phobos Base 1) when I put the shotgun away. =p
Oh, and just remembered another reason why the Chained Court is awesome: You can get a lot of ammo for an AoMrk game there.

Before him 5 brave souls have ventured into Phobos:
5 of those were killed.
--------------------------------------------------------------
All that without changing tactics once. And might I say, man, was I lucky to pull a double shotgun on Phobos Base 4! As to my particular solution to each bonus level:
Hell's Arena- Didn't attempt. I never go in without (at least) armor, a combat shotgun, two small medkits, and Reloader II.
Chained Court- Put armor away, grabbed the chainsaw, and hacked my way back to daylight.
Hell's Armory- Murdered my way from front to back with the double shotgun, then got traded all my green armors for blue ones. Had to wade through lava to get one Lost Soul, tho x_X
Halls of Carnage- Double shotgun through the first half of the level, then a combination of double shotgun/Cacodemon and Baron of Hell plasma on the east half. Got the BFG that I later wound up modding here.
The Wall- Rockets, rockets, rockets, using the shotgun at close range. For once, I only needed one large health pack here!
City of Skulls- One BFG blast, followed by a shitload of shotgun blasts. Picked up the other BFG here.
Unholy Cathedral- Screamed like a little girl, and ran for my life. Shouldn't have left the chainsaw in the Chained Court like a fool.
The Mortuary- Went down fighting, blowing a grand total of two red armors, a blue armor, and six large medkits. Oh, and fired my BFGs dry.
After dying on the Mortuary, I need to know this: How many archviles are there? I think I killed five there, and the Graveyard photo doesn't reveal and 'V's out to kill me.

In order, Reloader I and Reloader II, Shottyman, Ironman I, Tough as Nails I and II, and the one time I got to level 7, Ironman II.
Let's just assume the following about that playthrough:
1. Walking around in Coward Mode with a double shotgun and five hundred shotgun shells was FUN. >=D
2. I got lucky to spawn a double shotgun on Phobos Base 4.
3. Having a field of fire that took up the whole screen on the (then) bugged "Monsters come at you from all directions!" level made me wish I carried a chaingun instead of a rocket launcher as my sidearm. (Don't ask.)

I never skip it- free Power Cells and an opportunity to chainsaw eighteen Former Humans and four Cacodemons to death?! Sign me up!
Conker: You don't have to go through the Chained Court- or any bonus level, for that matter. I frequently skip Hell's Arena (and The Wall, ammo depending). Incidentally, it is possible to die on Chained Court- get shot a lot, have Berserk time out, and don't make it back to the Berserk Packs in the middle. Kinda embarassing u_u;

Requests For Features / Re: Revenant and Doom 3 monsters.
« on: December 19, 2007, 14:16 »1)First one is the Revenant - the only original monster (sans Spider Mastermind, which is a boss-type monster and thus in completly diffrent league) that still havn't made it to the game.
You're forgetting Baphomet =p
Then again, I suppose Endguy already covers that post, seeing as he spawns monsters and otherwise sits there waiting for you to kill him.
