AliensRL / Graphics?
« on: January 08, 2016, 13:27 »
Sorry for my incredibly noobish question, but is there a way I can implement my own graphical tileset for AliensRL? I didn't know if there was ever going to be a graphical version released so I thought I could maybe try to add my own if possible. Thanks.

I wonder if you could liquify a human body. I mean completely liquify it.

Haha @ Commander Keen. Could be a rare event.

Looking back at the sprite sheets for Doom 2 and realizing how violent that game was. No wonder I loved it so much when I was a kid.

Y'know, I really like those trees. I think they would go great in a water-logged swampy level reminiscent of The Marshes. I forget, do they show up again in the Unholy Cathedral level?

Requests For Features / Dead Bodies Everywhere
« on: April 17, 2012, 11:36 »

My humble request is for some decorative corpses. It's not uncommon to bump into tortured souls throughout the Doom games, though you can't interact with any of them. Some twitch, but their just background objects like trees are. I think there are a few platform versions (like the PlayStation) that allows players to shoot them to elicit a groan, but that's about it.

You take these poor bums for example:

In Doom RL, they might be cool to generate here and there not only for demonic esthetics, but also to bump up the corpse count on a map. Good meaty fodder to make blood skulls and the like all the more useful. They may add a ghoulish element of strategy the way exploding barrels do. And that's pretty much it. I hope this isn't too fancy a request.

If this ever is a go, I hope Derek Yu illustrates it. That man is a genius of pixels.

Discussion / Re: The Wall Strategy
« on: April 17, 2012, 09:17 »
Strategy for the wall? Hmmm...

I usually blow a whole in the wall at either the top or bottom sections with the rocket launcher and then use a combination of corner shooting, running backwards, bad language, and praying to god.

I use the rocket launcher in hopes that the enemy will bunch together. Plus the blow back gives me time to reload before they enter firing range. I'd recommend slapping a mod to your launcher to give you an edge. Typically, the rocket launcher is the strongest weapon in my inventory at the time I reach the wall.

And you know what sucks? Blasting through the hordes and discovering that one of your strays went and blew up the valuable goods on the other side of the stage. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF-
