I figured it was unfair because the RNG spawned me in a room full of Arachnotrons, and the only exit out led to an Arch Vile Guarded by 2+ Revenants. Overall, they were doing more damage than I can heal, doing 70% of my health in 1 turn after 3 arachnotron blasts and 1 Revenant Melee. If only it had spawned me in the west room instead. I was given no warning that I would need the phase device that I left behind on the last floor. I'm getting better at UV, my furthest was about Hell 1-2(didn't show that run since this one was less avoidable).

Unfortunately, I feel that every time I run UV, I feel the desperate need to always pick scout so I can level Intuition quickly. What sucks about scout is their masteries aren't as fun/powerful as Marine/Technician. I know I would've died before Deimos many times if I didn't have Intuition with me.

I've also noticed that Experience Cross requires Ao666 inorder to gain. I've seen plenty of UV Ao100 Runs where 24 was the highest level achieved(on a YAAM run). Cratz!

@Tormuse: Noteye is an interface thing that allows 2D/3D Graphics in most roguelikes(usually tiles, isometric, and also in 3D). If you check Game Hunter's YouTube Channel, he has a video where he plays DoomRL with Noteye 3D. Most of the corner shooting appears blind(looks like staring at a wall), but there's an alternate window that helps you see corner shooting better. To be honest, I think the Noteye 3D Version is mostly just for show(Gives a Wolfenstein 3D Look to DoomRL), and can get old after a while, but would make a neat, but annoying forum challenge option.(Try Noteye 3D DoomRL on UV)

I'm probably going to go with Console from now on. Whenever I quit the app(console mode), I get a "Reset: can't initialize terminal type network(error -1)" error that ask me for the terminal type(Mac OSX). Also, I end up having to press esc key twice in order for it to register while cancelling out of aiming/menus. Works perfectly fine otherwise. The main problem I have with tiles mode is sometimes the mouse cursor scrolls away from my character when I click on the window to bring DoomRL into active status, having to move the mouse away from the window and hit a movement key to fix. Also, Whenever I hold down a movement key in tiles mode, there's some lag that causes movement actions to be made when I let go.

If anyone can tell me how to avoid the double esc key pressing requirement of console mode, let me know.

Most of the time I play without the mouse at all, even in tiles mode. whenever I aim I use the arrow keys to move the cursor(sometimes everytime I shoot in cases where the enemy is outside the screen). When I first started out, before I figured out how to access config.lua, I would mostly move in cardinal directions and only use the mouse to move diagonally during cave levels. Now that I realize it, I've come a long way in just 200-300 runs. Back when I first started, HNTR was a little rough, but doable, and ITYTD was still easier than expected.

Comparing Dungeons of Dredmor Difficulties to DoomRL, I'd say it goes like this:
Nightmare > Ultra Violets > Hurt Me Plenty > Going Rogue(DoD) > Hey Not Too Rough > Dwarvish Moderation(DoD) > I'm Too Young To Die > Elves Just want to have Fun(DoD)
Tip: If you're playing Dredmor, don't ever bother with Elves Just want to have fun(Elvishly Easy). Start on Dwarvish Moderation instead. Elvishly Easy is a disgrace to Roguelikes, especially if go without permadeath, and will flood your inventory painfully due to items not needing to be used.

I just saw the Movie "Berserk!" with Joan Crawford, and it made me think of this abandoned game. Despite the game being based off of an anime, I figured that I want to play this just to see what it's about. Here's a Picture of Berserk! the movie cover:

Perhaps we can add references from the movie to the game? I'll be happy to work on developing AllensRL* if you guys are willing to Develop BerserkRL.

You are allowed to use Dragonslayer/Butcher's Cleaver. If those are picked up, but somehow not included in your mortem, explain why. Otherwise, if you don't find any unique/exotic blades, you should go for malicious knives cross. I'm wondering whether I should start out Gold or Silver since I find Strongman Gold ridiculously hard(haven't done it yet), but I can easily beat HMP Regularly as well as in AoB. I'm still learning UV w/o melee(would be a disaster for Ao100), but I'll definitely try this challenge.

Edit: After being inspired by a Nightmare Run of this challenge, I'm going for Gold. 10-30 early deaths will probably be worth it. Also, i've been a little impatient regarding mortems in this challenge. I'll give it at least 2 months or more before I start complaining now.

I've also found you can Punch Crates, but only in TILES Graphics Mode while clicking on the crate with a mouse. Not sure if this works, though.

Somewhere I might've heard that using "Q" might've been worse than getting one's self killed. I've had situations where I couldn't decide which of those 2 ways to go(because of an early screw up I made that most likely cost me my game early on(as in UV or UV AoMr))

I'm hosting a Challenge that anyone may participate in(if you want bragging rights then you should post your post mortem here):

The Centurial Blade Bandit Challenge
Rules:
1. Must Play on Ao100.
2. No Dual Angels.
3. Must have at least 85% Kill Rate in order for your Victory to be Valid(40% on Nightmare!)
4. Knives and Fists Only. Unique/Exotic Blades are allowed(and recommended), but Artifacts and Chainsaws are not.(No Gun/Nuke Usage either)
Note: If you're lucky enough to get Dragonslayer, GO FOR IT! I'll even let you keep your Badge even with berserker armour. No Longinous/Scythe allowed though.
5. The only Assemblies you are permitted to use are Chainsword, Piercing Blade, Tactical Armor and Tactical Boots.
6. I'm Too Young to Die Difficulty is not an Option unless you've never gotten a Gold Badge in the Current Version before(And you can manage to get Ao100 to work on ITYTD).
7. And Finally, Vampyre Master Trait is not allowed.(You can still Play a Masterless/Other Mastery Marine Class if you want)
Level Feeling Nukes are permitted, but Alt-Fire Gun Nukes and Player-placed Nukes are not allowed to be used.(Besides, you get a higher Kill Rate without them)

Awards(For those who can beat the Challenge with Sufficient Kill Rate):
Blade Bandit Copper Badge - Played on Hey Not Too Rough and made it to Floor 26 with at least 20% Kills.
Blade Bandit Bronze Badge - Played on Hey Not Too Rough and made it to Floor 51 with at least 20% Kills.
Blade Bandit Silver Badge - Played and won on Hey Not Too Rough with 85% Kills.
Blade Bandit Gold Badge - Played and won on Hurt Me Plenty with 85% Kills.
Blade Bandit Platinum Badge - Played and won on Hurt Me Plenty as an Asskicking Marine(100% Kills).
Blade Bandit Diamond Badge - Played and won on Ultra Violence with 85% Kills.
Blade Bandit Angelic Badge - Played and won on Ultra Violence as an Asskicking Marine(100% Kills).
Blade Bandit Demonic Badge - Played and won on Nightmare! with 85% Kills.
Blade Bandit Impossible Badge - Played and won on Nightmare! with YAAM(100% Kills). This would be a Super Hard Extra Challenge for someone like 2DeviationsOut.

Earning a Higher ranking Blade Bandit Badge will also qualify you for lesser ranking ones.(e.g. Getting Diamond will also get you Copper through Platinum)
However, I do expect even Veterans might find it difficult for even just the Silver Blade Bandit Badge.(Mostly because of Lots of Very Difficult enemies with only Knives/Fists)

Please Post your Mortems regarding this challenge below(if you want credit):

TLDR: I'm guessing "TWODEV" Difficulty in the Challenges Menu means "2DEViationsout" and not "2 Developers(only 2 developers can do it)"? That would explain "BLADE" difficulty as well. Edit: Forgot to add something about badges.

Edit: Changed the stuff around a little, since ITYTD+Ao100 doesn't mix, and UV100% needs a little something.

Quick Question, does YASW mean Yet Another Stupid Win(YAVP/YAFW) or Yet Another Standard Win(YAVP but not YAFW)?
Also, I learned that UV without Intuition(or even a shotgun) must be really annoying, since Radar Shooting is a Must, and your bullets don't always hit(I always mistake misses for "no enemy there" cues, unless I have at least Eagle Eye 1)

I've noticed that when loading the given Special Levels, Normal Doom Mission Music would play instead of the Simon Volpert Songs. Here are the songs that don't seem to play during a standard game:
dark_secrets.mp3, doom_the_roguelike.mp3, final_showdown.mp3, hells_weapons.mp3, of_skull_and_bone.mp3, rage.mp3, something_wicked.mp3, the_brick_song.mp3, too_hot_down_here.mp3, unholy_cathedral.mp3 and d1inter.mp3.

All of the other songs that DO play during any kind of run:
cde1m*.mp3(all of these) - These 9 Songs are the only level music that plays, and plays in special levels instead of the simon volpert songs.
d1end.mp3 - death mortem music
d1readme.mp3 - victory mortem music
cde1m9.mp3 seems to play the most in Special Levels. I do like it, but I want to hear the other game song as well.

This is on an Early 2008 iMac with 2.66 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 2 GB 800mhz DDR2 SDRAM, ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro 256MB Graphics and Built in(probably integrated) sound manufactured by Apple. I've noticed that MIDI Files play at very low volumes when played outside of a MIDI Editor, but I don't hear the Simon Volpert MP3s at all, and it sounds like they're being replaced by E*M* Vanilla Doom Music.

When I booted up DoomRL Today, I started to Play UV with AoMC to practice not getting hit. I decided to try Console Mode one more time, and when I got to level 4, I figured, I like Both Tiles and Console Text, I wonder what everybody else likes since I can't seem to decide.

One one hand, Console mode has easier viewing of the whole map, so you can pinpoint faraway discovered items easier without using the mouse.
On the other, Tiles mode makes each individual tile/monster/item easier to identify, and I don't have to hit escape twice when cancelling out of something.

Although what I said above is mostly opinional, I want everyone to know what most people prefer in terms of graphics. Don't forget to post a comment on any opinions or whether you want to know your personal preference for graphics modes.

Should be no problem with your cerberus armour. A little off topic(maybe): What Graphics mode do you guys prefer? Tiles or Console? I'm wondering which one I should play since they both appeal to me in equal, but very different ways.
Tiles - More Attractive Graphics, but harder to see further, especially on north/south sides with Cateye+Intuition 2.
Console - Classic, More Genuine Roguelike Experience, but SLIGHTLY harder to identify Enemies and Different Types of Items, and I have a bug where I have to press escape twice in order to use escape function(to cancel look/fire target/exit inventory)
