I finally got to trying the 0.8.2 version and I really love the new tower layouts. Also, I'm not sure if I'm getting better or the game got easier, but I was finally having some fun playing, instead of waiting for slow painful death. I got enough supplies to venture into higher levels this time, though I should have got back to storage tower at some point to resupply, instead I got ripped to shreds after running out of ammo. The engeneering tower is really nice with all the glass rooms.
I'll try to experiment with some other builds next. I went with a marine, thinking it will be the most basic and thus perhaps easier route. I keep hearing good things about heavy weapons build, though I still haven't found any new weapons besides the FN SCAR rifle. I guess I'll try to hunt for keys and explore the lower levels of security tower next, instead of rushing upwards.

Some of the previous beta versions were really hard, due to the smell and really annoying point blank spawn.
@Kornel:
Apparently, it is hard to keep high amount of ammo sometimes (especially with low marks in weapons). You lowered the amount of bugs, but the higher amount of crates (instead of items lying straight on the floor) causes ammo to appear in a random way.
Also, it is no longer possible to open a door, examine the room for ammo, and close it. This strategy no longer works.
Every room with Hunter inside is basically an opened room, and the opened room means you have all of bugs going after you. There are of course rooms with Security and Military locks, which can keep bug swarm, but you can't peek inside those anyway. Too bad bugs are so witty and do not destroy locked doors.
The key to early game now is to get weapons that use the most popular ammo in the game. The standard FN SCAR works well with 5.56. My favorite for 9mm is semi-rare SMG. And there is Combat Shotgun, that shines almost everywhere.
All in all, it is balanced so far, imo :P .

Running out of ammo? O.o
Well, the starting pistol wasn't really helping me survive at this point. If I found a MP5 in time, I might have gotten farther.
Right now I have a saved game where I found a shotgun and wow... it makes the game much much easier. Not only is it hella strong (even with no XP spent in primary weapons), but the ammo is everywhere. I don't think I'll be running out anytime soon.

Yep, it is good there. It has very good ammo:kill ratio - sometimes the amount of killed bugs is higher than the amount of shells used to kill them :) .
It won't help much against better armored enemies, though.
