1. Download.
Web page here:
- http://dosrecorder.sourceforge.net/
Direct download here:
- http://sourceforge.net/projects/dosrecorder/files/latest/download?source=files
2. Install.
- Create target folder, for example "D:\Program Files\Dos Recorder"
- Unpack all the content of downloaded file
An example in attachment - check out the first screenshot.
3. Download some recorded run.
For example available here:
- http://forum.chaosforge.org/index.php/topic,5496.0.html
- http://forum.chaosforge.org/index.php/topic,5446.0.html
4. Associate the *.dm2 file with DOS Recorder player.
- RMB (Right Mouse Button :P ) on *.dm2 file -> Properties
- On "General" tab click the "Change" button next to "Opens with:"
- "Choose the program you want to use to open this file:". Windows probably does not know DOS Recorder, so you need to click "Browse..." and navigate to the player manually
If you unpacked the archive to "D:\Program Files\Dos Recorder", the player will be in "D:\Program Files\Dos Recorder\Player\Win32" (check out second screenshot)
- Click "Open"->"OK"->"Apply"->"OK"
5. Test it.
Now everything should work - just doubleclick the downloaded *.dm2 file.

I think most people will use fraps or bandicam now that it's gone graphical, though. :P

Sure, if you have money (or if you stole those apps).
And plenty of disc space.
And not sucky PC.
Go ahead.
Still, there are high-end players that are using DOS Recorder - and it is worth watching them.

Or my personal favourite for windowed stuffs - Camstudio.

Great for windowed recording...should do sounds as well, although I've yet to fully test it on my new computer where I can actually do sounds and my mic at the same time.
