How do themes work? I have not found that option in the utility you PMed and I have not found any specific information about themes online. Where should I look?
I'm creating a Psion. Also, I chose the ritual "Comrade's Succor" (allows for the redistribution of healing surges among characters), so there is probably no need for others to take it.

In the mean do we know what others are playing so we're not duplicating roles in the group?

I hope it is not too late to show interest in taking part in this game.
As far as my experience goes, I have played a few very short DnD 3.5 games a long time ago. I'm not sure how well I can roleplay, but I'd like to try.

I wish that the DoomRL release came with some kind of a vi-keys config.
For example there could be a "keybindings-vi.lua" file.
Then there could be a line in "config.lua" below the line
But that's just me being tired of editing "keybindings.lua" every time I redownload DoomRL. That editing is a bit annoying, since I usually make mistakes and have to edit the file multiple times.

Off Topic / Re: Online dice probability calculator

I have used Wolfram Alpha for calculating these probabilities. The site you used is better for that purpose though.
Also, you probably know that, but the BFG deals plasma damage, which means that you should calculate the probability for 10d6 >= 26, since the effect of armor is halved.

For example, what's the chance of killing a demon with one BFG shot?
Now we know that a BFG is 10d6 damage, demon has 2 armor and 25 HP, so what's the probability of 10d6 >= 27?

You really do need a more informative error message for this situation.

Name: Flashlight
Class: Melee Weapon
Attack: 1d6
Special Effect when equipped: After each move extend the light radius by 2 or 3 in a smallish cone in the direction of movement (light radius stays unchanged when waiting)
Description: [Some witty Doom 3 reference about duct tape]

Post Mortem / Re: [H|100%|YAFW] Benevolent blades
« on: April 12, 2013, 00:09 »Nice recovery. 2 questions regarding MFa though:
1) Your torso fire resistance is only listed as 85%. Does MFa simply not register there, or is this a minor bug?
2) Does MFa do anything to protect your feet, or is it really just fire attacks?
Actually Fireangel does not protect you from fire damage (although you might guess so from the name).
It only protects you against the area effect of an explosion (be it fire, acid or plasma damage).
You still take full damage in the case of a direct hit.

If you are going to scrap the low quality releases, perhaps you could instead at least support musicless releases, since supporting that seems easier? I can live with it if you don't though.

« on: October 27, 2012, 11:27 »Ah, majik, I recommend posting some stuff in not Off-topic to increase your post count to non-zero, because we do wipe the database of users who have exactly zero posts from time to time to keep out spammers and the lot.
Perhaps you should make OT posts count then? Why don't they anyway?
[EDIT] Err, never mind the 'you'. But the point remains.

Discussion / Re: Reasons for text-mode interface
« on: October 15, 2012, 09:55 »
I don't think it would matter much to me. The console mode has a certain technical coolness factor, but pseudoconsole can look visually cool enough to be worth it.
Unfortunately ChaosForge non-console versions don't run on my computer (Win7, Intel graphics). I think it's a driver issue, because they work when I switch to software rendering (although it makes DoomRL unplayably slow). There are a lot of games that don't run (and a lot of games that do run), so this problem is in no way specific to ChaosForge.
