No, it is not supposed to be like that. They are not supposed to exist at all. What is supposed to be is some mundane exepriments in UAC labs.

Yes, once you walk away from an item and can't see it anymore, you will see a terrain on that square.

The IP BAN is a bad idea

The point is that it only prevents unregistered posting and has no effect once you register.

Discussion / D&D, Doom and You

DnD3 is not a perfect system, but it's not an inheritely broken either. It meets the goals it was designed for. Arguing which one is better is more broken makes no sense. Taking an example from your arguments, staying alive after a crossbow hit is not a misfeature, it's intended. It may be intolarable in a game based on a Lovecraft books, but can be desirable in another setting. You can survive a direct rocket hit in Doom. You can survive that in DRL too.

Saying all that, I personally don't really care what system is used (exact formula of dice roling is not even a secondary matter). Anticheese is the most active person in regard to the IRC game (at least when I am online), so it's quite naturally that choice is made by him as he is making the biggest part. He picked a thing he likes and is familiar with.

Kornel, no one disrespect your views, opinions or the thing you created, but should you bash people for doing the things the way they like, especially when you are keeping a distance?

Good idea, though I never heard of IP ban of unregistered users before, so it might require Kornel to write code, instead of using already made extension.

Just PLEASE dont give them rocket launchers or BFG's.

I recall there was a Doom II mod (a 'hack' technically) that gave plasma rifles, rocket launchers and BFG to former humans and imps. It was fun, but completing even the first level was quite a challenge (I didn't knew about BFG FOV 'feature' at the time)...

Bones files for DoomRL. That could be scary.

That  would be great!

Kornel, you are teasing us with Arena for so long...

An ammo-efficiency ratio makes NO SENSE in DoomRL, Reason being that the only control over aiming you get is when you:

Moreover, you can kill a lot of foes with a single blast of BFG and you need a few hits to kill anything with a pistol.

Why telepatic? Marines have helmets with antene, so it's quite likely to be connected to something.

Do you really think that the Demons would just leave the megamap on out of charity? :-)

I don't really think they got control over IT systems.

Come on, This is the corporation that exists solely to get new weapons out the door as soon as can be, I doubt that on the Deimos/Phobos facilities there would be ANY chance of military action outside of an internal revolt, So why not cut budget and not give the marines decent equipment?

Such corporation would should have defence as one of it's top priorities as it is a prime target for foreign military forces, intelligence and organized crime. If there is not military action there it's solely because these facilities are heavy guarded.

The Marines that went in before you were equipped with some top of the line stuff according to almost every single piece of Doom backstory I can get my hands on, You were left with a pistol because they took the plasma rifle.

Normally, everyone should have his complect of equipment, so that's why I  told that squad went underequipped, as at least one complect of weaponry was missing. While other marines had weapon, they could lack some other items, like medpaks, gogles or radiation suits. You don't even have a communication device to contact the HQ.

Your standard Former Humans would have just been scientists who after the great change would have scavanged pistols, Curiously enough there is allways enough for everyone except you.

But yeah, if the Marines all had helmets ...

Many of them are called sergeants and captains, so they seem to be some kind of a military force in previous live.
Now I recall there are quite a few corpses of marines on the first levels of the original. They have their helmets on, but they are covered in blood, so they are probably damaged and you simply can't use a helmet with a hole in an airless environment.

E. The computer maps you find ARE helmets with plans.

They look like green-screened computers. Helmets are armour shards.

We seem to be quite spread out across the globe, so, in theory, there should be a good chance to catch someone online.
