Title: bug: teleport on barrel [FIXED]

My character seems to just have died (or rather eternally tormented) by doing the following experiment. Used a teleport, pushed a barrel to the teleport destination, and used a teleport again. "You feel yanked away! You feel yanked away! You feel yanked away! You feel yanked away! You feel yanked away!"

More like TeleHell (Eternal torment, You cannot scream, There is no chance for you to get out.)

Some solutions would be to have the teleport to either:

A. Pick a random destination everytime (un-doomish)

B. If the destination is blocked, Search for the nearest tile that isint blocked

If the destination is blocked, it should kill/destroy it.

Hmm, Has anyone tried seeing what happens when you put a barrel at the end of a teleporter in classic doom?

Dunno, maybe you get stuck in it too, since they aren't pushable, doom doesn't consider it a possibility... Im going to try it, shouldn't take long. I will edit to post the result.

EDIT : Uh, I died :P The barrel was "telefraged" (so it entered its dying states : explosion) and killed me.

Just to make sure Kornel understands me, as my post was a bit ambigous: I did not die of barrel explosion. This was as if destination of the teleport was itself.

This seems fixed with the current (local on my machine) version. We'll see if it pops up again after the next release.

I'm having the same problem: http://www.geocities.com/reptoran/images/doomRL.JPG

I moved onto a '*' tile, then it just kept repeating "you feel yanked away!"  I'm not dying, and my health isn't going down.  The game is just stuck in what appears to be an infinite loop (which sucks, because this was my best game so far =/).

I reckon that the barrel or whatever should count as being killed or you get teleported to the nearest square (I.E Similar to how items work)

Your evil is strong.

I think it would be better though if there is a 9/10 chance of you coming out of it with 1% health, no armour and so on.

That is both more evil and gives more oppertunity for survival (I.E You are running from Arachnotrons and flee through the teleporter. You land in a barrel and narrowly survive.)

But what if you land in a monster?

I'd say, allow the telefrag to kill the monster you teleport into.  Unless it's something big like Cybie or the Mastermind.

Or JC.

Oh, and make the AI take advantage of teleporters, too, so if they know where the teleport goes, they might decide to hop in and either surprise you... or blow you up.  Just like Doom.

It is like that right now. But you can telefrag anything :).

True.  But, hm.  I suppose pulling levers that summon monsters is like the places where monsters teleport in after you reach something or grab an item.
