Requests For Features / More Armor/Weapon Sets

I really like the idea of the Inquisitor, Phaseshift, and other sets. I feel that each set should give you a certain buff when all put together correctly, and each set is different from another. This has the added bonus of giving the player tough choices to go with in situations.

For instance, there could be a Tactical Set, which, when you have the Tac Armor, Tac Boots, Tac Shotgun, and Assault Rifle prepared, you could get a +10% speed boost but you could be vurnable to +1 more damage from enemies or something like that.

There could be Cerberus weapons to go with the Cerberus boots and armor, and nanomachic weapons could fit with the nanofiber armor and such.

Thoughts? Is this possible?

I know that this topic is not new, but I found out that there is now a free pascal compiler dedicated to the ARM architecture of many Android devices. Just a thought?

Bug Reports / Tac Shotty can't be assembled!

Hello,

I was just playing DoomRL 0.9.9.7 on AoMc under HMP, going towards Ammochain. My current traits are:
SoB x2
Rel x2


I pwned the Chained Court, and I got a power and a tech mod there.

However, when I tried to assemble the tactical shotgun using the basic PT mods, I got a message saying "This item can't be modified anymore with this mod!".
I put the Power mod on first, like I usually do. I got the message when trying to put the technical mod on second.

This is the first time this has ever happened.

Discussion / Does the console version work for Mac?

I put DoomRL on one of my friend's macbooks, and it seems that only the graphical version works. If I change the config.lua file to "CONSOLE", DoomRL doesn't launch (at least it doesn't seem to)

Is there "console" support for mac?

Discussion / Clear Vaults by luck--?

Im just trying to figure how how to "clear the Vaults by luck"

Does this mean like nuke the level and then teleport inside the main vault and then leave (because I have noticed that the Vaults are not bound by the Arena Master's Staff anymore)? Does it mean to dodge attacks so that the enemies miraculously kill eachother?

Bug Reports / "Teleporting Bullet" - aiming and LOS problem

In 0.9.9.7, there seems to be a sort of LOS issue with aiming and firing a weapon.

When Im firing around corners of pillars, sometimes there's a gap in the firing sight. I pushed a barrel into that "missing" square and fired repeatedly using a pistol, and it never seemed to hit the barrel.

Moving the barrel to the targeted square ensued a hasty explosion.

Bug Reports / Gun Kata - enemies don't cause an auto reload

I was just playing Angel of Marksmanship, and decided to go for the Gun Kata build.
It seems that only enemies killed as of a direct hit by directly aiming on their tile causes an autoreload.

If I did this:

Is this a bug, or a "feature"?

Bug Reports / First message being overwritten by second?

I've noticed that sometimes, the level messages you get when you enter a level "You enter Phobos Level 6. You feel a breeze of morbid air!" will sometimes be overwritten by the next messages, and the first message won't show up in the message history.


Just a minor bug in 0.9.9.7.

Just a few days ago, I managed my first full win with DoomRl 0.9.9.7. I DID save a few times, because I wanted to play it safe mostly. I got real lucky on some of the rolls.

I got lucky with the Cybie and got an invurnability globe right before I went to meet him. All I had to do was stroll in and blast him a few times with a BFG9K. The UC was really fun. I had the antigrav plasteel boots on, and I had a really good chainsaw. I just ripped through the lost souls, and then I ripped open the demons in a line. I made sure that their corpses didn't stack or drop on doorways so I could use my hatred skull to full effect to zerk enough to fight the AoD full on. I got the spear and that was about it there.

The Mortuary was a pain in the ass, mostly because I didn't have quite as much ammo as I would've liked. Also, the homing phase devices don't bring you to the lower right corner every time anymore, so that was a pain. But I eventually did clear it, and picked up the Angelic Armor.

I nuked the Mastermind using the Lava Element/thermie bomb, but I didn't get the MM's Brain, even though I didn't take any damage. Do you have to pull the lever to get the MM Brain?

JC was a piece of cake. I was moving SOOO fast that I went right up next to JC and dodged all his attacks while smacking him around with my spear. At one point, he summoned some Revenants, but I just hit them consecutively in a circle and they died right off. It was a real fun way to win.

Hopefully I'll have the nuts to win on something like UV or even N! once I get that skill.

I was playing an Ao100 run as Marine HMP. I died on lava (suicidal) wearing fireproof protective boots and red armor.

When I died, I got an error message:

Modding / Compiling/Decompiling WAD files?

1. How do you compile your XXXX.module folder to a .wad file?

2. If possible, how can you decompile a .wad to a .module folder?

When I shortcut "u", usually the usuable items show up. However, an added feature for the 0997 is that you can use items directly from the floor or use weapons/armor/packs directly from the floor. However, the problem is is that if I want to se a medpack or whatever from my inventory, I can't if I'm standing on any consumable or weapon. I'll use (or attempt to use) the item I'm standing on instead.

I really liked 0.9.9.6. Sure, it had some glaring bugs (Fireangel didn't work, some enemies were "too smart", liquid spawning problems), but other than that, I think that 0.9.9.6 siginfied the climax of the "modern-age classic" DoomRL.

I mean, Classic DoomRl was when you had the 10 levels and no special levels and just the Cybie to deal with. The "modern-classic" DoomRl is the one like 0.9.9.1 to 0.9.9.6, the one with 11 special levels, all the same, not much changing, same exotic/unique weapons/mods/stuff, and similar assemblies all the way.

Sure, I like 0.9.9.7, but I feel that new special levels change the entire feel of the game. It's like playing Inferno for the first time--you don't know what's going to happen, you're caught off-guard, and you feel kind of lost, now that your usual routine has been overhauled.

I would really like to see a "0.9.9.6" mode in new DoomRl versions.
