Title: Sound Bug Crash
Post by: ChaoticJosh on September 20, 2009, 22:24
It's my understanding that allowing the music to reach it's end on any level will make the game crash.

I really don't like this, what with it being turn-based, it's kind of like a timer. I don't think well when on a time limit, which makes me make bad choices. That's just me.

Also, I like exploring each level thoroughly, to see if I can grab any special items which may be laying around.

So my question is: how do I fix this? If possible, in layman's terms. Thank you very much.

Welcome to the forums!

What version and what platform are you running? I run Windows and often have no problem leaving the game running for a few hours while I go do some jobs or something.

Unless you're using custom mp3s. I'd direct you to Malek, then.

Actually, I just picked this game up after putting it down for a couple months, and now I can't seem to get the sound or sound effects to work at all... somewhat upsetting since I remember using the stereo to deduce the location of enemies from listening to their random grunts.

I'm running windows XP, and the version of the game is 09810

I'd advise a re-download. If that doesn't help, ask Kornel. =\

Oh hey, it worked! Thanks for the advice.

I really like the atmosphere this game gives with it's music, even if it did crash the game for me in the past.

To make me feel extra special good, I finally beat this game. Yay me!

Sure:

I really like giving my characters cool sounding names:

I'm happy that I beat it, but I can't figure out how to get into the places in the "Vault" special level.

Heh.... the game crashed for no reason. Not because of the music or inventory, I just got a message that said "Read access violation" or somesuch, and then it turned off.

I was doing SO WELL too! Darnit.

Well, I'll be sure to do that next time Aki.

I remember something ASTOUNDINGLY odd happening shortly before the crash though. When I entered the floor, I was in small 3x3 room, with me in the corner, and every other square occupied by demons and cacodemons. This has never happened before, and I don't know why. I used a spare phaser to warp out, but I'm not sure if that's related to the crash or not.

I mention this because I know of some other games that'll do truly weird things right before they crash.

Most probably it's the sound library issue. Kornel switched to using another library in beta, so wait for a new version, or become a donater to try the beta. It should be more stable.

If you had a shotgun those daemons were a free exp... After entering a level monsters are frozen for a second or two
