Nice work, and congratillations for the first vicory on HMP! I have never played AoLT, because of lack of time, i played only challenges needed to aquire another rank(Yes, i'm a careerist)) I noticed that you killed only 3 BoHs, you avoided them? What was you afraid if you had a rocket launcher, they can be easily killed with it. And, tell me, if you used chaingun and plasma rifle all the game, WHY you have only 1 level of Eagle Eye??! It's really fun to miss, yes?

I used chaingun all the game, by the reason of lack of ammo of other types. But, maybe, double shotgun is worth using on this difficultiy, i haven't tried it this time.
UV YAAM post
Rocket launcher is great when you have Intuition*3, and there is a large group of tough mosters on the other side of the map, but you don't have enough health to kill them. Just find a place, where they won't reach you fast, and from where you can fire rockets to them directly. Smart ones, that are coming towards you, can be held on distance by RL's knockback. It is also helping to deal with pain elemental, that have spawned lots of lost souls. They can nearly all be killed by one or two rockets.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Ultra Violence is a great difficulty level, i love it! But few things upset me a little. Really, level 3 awards you with 4-7 HKs, and on Arena you must kill 3 or 4 BoHs. But from level 12 to level 24 same only powerfull monsters spawns on every map. Their quantity isn't increasing at all(i haven't seen difference from amount and quality of monsters on level 13 to amount and quality of monsters on level 24). And one more: look at the arachnotron kill count. I faced 4 or 5 levels that contained only Arachnotrons. That's because it was always hard with ammo. I know that it's a random generator, and it is unlucky day for me, but it's boring to kill 7-12 arachnotrons on each level with chaingun firing from out of their sight.
And, again, great thanks to Intuition, it saved me, as usual!
Perk order: 2*Eagle Eye -> 3*Intuition -> SoaB -> Eagle Eye -> SoaB -> Iron Man*3 -> SoaB

And more, i have forgot: never, NEVER go to City of Skulls on UV! There i fired almost all my cells and very many rockets... to find out that i had destroyed my reward. There are so many Lost Souls and Pain Elementals, that BFG can't handle with them, they anyway reaching you. And then you don't think about reward, you just fire at every moving creature.

« on: December 05, 2006, 06:17 »
Very nice work! It is easy to understand that beating game on various difficulties with maximum possible kills grants you various ending levels. On ITYTD final level is usually 6 or 7, on NTR it is, as you see, level
7-9, on HMP it is 10-12. I wonder, on Nightmare! it will be, logically, 16-18? Just imagine, how many perks you can pick! Maybe some opinions, what perks to take on this difficulty and in what order? (My excuses to DaEezT for posting on his topic a little out of his subject, but just wandered when taked a look on his mortem))).

Edit several hours later, when beat the AoI on UV. UV, i suppose, level 11 - 13. Then Nightmare! won't be 16-18, it will be 13-15

Really cool! I like my DooM standart avatar, but i think that many people will be happy to have one of these. Kornel, maybe add them to standart avatars list?

Discussion / Re: How is experience calculated ?

You are sure that every time the lever is cleared it is you and only you, who killed all enemies. They often kills themselves more efficient(sergeant mostly).)) And you recieve experience only for monsters, that YOU killed.

At this point we have some different level types(Hell caves, hell city, phobos base, and something else)), and some different wall types. We can check, on what level type player is, and pick for every wall random wall texture from this level texture presets. Just comparation of ascii wall to random(Presets[level type][wall type]) (It's c++).

Yes, you got the point. It will be avaliable if somebody will learn, what data contains original DooM maps, and how to convert ascii to such data. Of course all rules of DooMRL must be disabled for such conversion, so there won't be any levels, perks, special weapons, or undoomish(commando) monsters. Maybe it can be something like unplayable generator of ascii maps(creation is depending on current map generation rules, or every map can be created by player). And at the end you will have unlimited amount of levels for original DooM.

Discussion / Re: Angel of Berserk Help
« on: December 03, 2006, 12:22 »
Cacodemons aren't problematic, either, you just have to rush at them in Coward, after luring them closer, then cut into them with a chainsaw.
Right, and they are always moving, so they can be caught out of the corner. Sergeants is a real problem because they fires every 3 turns and almost never miss. Every monster on higher levels have a chance to miss, and sometimes it's large enough to allow you get closer to them.
http://forum.chaosforge.org/index.php?topic=422.0 - read the lowest one post, it's mine, and take a look at kill counts. Human sergeants are only 28, while cacodemons are 47, and commandos are 13.
And my comment to mortem read too.

I avoided them until i get a chainsaw. Honestly, i avoided nearly every monster until that. On level 3, 4, or 5 take a look, if there are stairs to The Chained Court, without chainsaw AoB is impossible, i think. But then there will be levels with less sergeants, and more other monsters, who are not so problematic to kill. You will get normal armor also. I advise you to pick Tough As Nails*3 after picking two perks of Brute. Then i picked Iron Man*3, last Brute, and one Eagle Eye, found LS, and AA, and with all of this i became nearly impossible to kill.

I like this idea very, very much! When do you want to apply it to forum? But about global scoreboard: then there must be some protection from fake, or cheated statistics, otherwise good, but honest players will be at the bottom of the table, while cheaters on the top will contest, who is cheating more than others.

I understand that this idea can be applied only in very far future(maybe version 2.4.65, or later)) , but how about convertor from ascii maps to original DooM ][ ][ maps? So if you extend quantity of DooMRL levels to 30 + 2 secret, they can be converted directly to new DooM original wad, and be used as new episode. As i know, level modding of DooM is not illegal.
And what about adding really secret level(s) on single map(on standart random level, or on special level)? They must be hidden (you'll need to create some rooms that are not easy to pass)

Levers must be pressed in the right order(if it is possible to programme on this step), otherwise some powerfull mosters summons, and floor floods with lava(maybe without lava will be better). There can be more levers to harder switch-picker work, and there must not be able to see with Intuition, what every lever are doing.
Or maybe place stairs to secret level on Hell Caves level somewhere deep in the rock, and the only way to make it to them is to find little passage in hard-reaching place. Of course no computer map must be spawned on this level.
There can be 2 or 3 secret levels every time you play(exact secret level is chosen randomly from some precreated maps).

1. I was actually referring to the fact that if my inv stopped a single turn sooner, I would've died. ITYTD doubles the time it takes for inv globes to run out.
Well, i noticed that your inv globe was working for really long time. Maybe ITYTD not doubles, but trebles time of it?
I'm going to try to kill him with weapons on UV, if i find at least one thermie, and then i'll post my results(as soon as i will have time). All monsters have same characteristics on different difficulty levels? Only their quantity variates?
2. Apage43 made a funky little program on the internet that you stick your player.dat file in to, so you can make a sig like the one I have.
Any download link(if Apage43 won't mind)?)) And to Kornel, again, if Apage43 won't mind how about making it official, and placing it on DooMRL site in downloads as usefull programm.

Yes, congratilations, really! By the way, i begin to think that killing him on higher difficulty will be not harder, but easier. Because i'm playing now on UV, and there you can get LOTS of experience, so at Cybie level i will be at level 14, 15 or 16. It will be really easy then to kill him, but the real problem on high difficulty levels is to survive that far.
About signature, i see second man today with such thing. How can they be created?
