I think that we need some topics to share our experiences and archievments in particular challenges. I'll post my mortem for beginning. It's my second try of 0985, and it's not bad. But i suppose that some people could do it better. Post your records!

(*) Killed everyone on previous levels(i like to clear ALL), but appearence of Arch-Vile blocking way to exit destroyed all plans to even survive this level. I can imagine that you can kill Arch-Vile with pistol if you have all perks related on pistols, at least 100% hp and nobody biting your in ass. Otherwise you will win only with dozens of luck.
(**) Visited only Chained Court, because i won't survive with pistol on arena even 1 round. The only reason to visit The Wall with pistol was to look at the wall, to listen to the sounds and then go away.
(***) Not bad set of perks, but not the best. If anybody have an idea about the better - post here.
(****) He-he, i was really ammo truck on legs.)))

well, 0985 seems to be quite possible to win for experienced player(but i tested only on Hurt Me Plenty, haven't opened yet Ultra Violence, or Nightmare!).

Congrs, it's a progress. Try to fire in dark, there are so many K and Barons(i don't remember exactly, who)? so you will miss only few rockets. Orient, where is they by sound.

Maybe in fight it is really useless. But it allows not to count on luck, because with it you can always have good armor and health and be not afraid of crazy BoH behind next corner. If many people will call it useless - it's better for me, it won't be called imballanced and i will use it everywhere.)))
Also - Arachnotrons are absolutely weak in close combat, they almost don't deal damage in it. So if you are one step from arachnie, loose one turn, go directly him, and you will kill him without problems.

Of course! But for what reason pick perk if it is loosing on this stage of game? I finished game with level 11, you will have 9 levels to pick Shottie and other perks you want. Last perk,that i picked was Hellrunner just because i couldn't decide, what to choose, i don't needed it at all.

I don't know, it caused no problems to me. I won all 3 rounds on arena. Haven't you tried not combat shotgun, but chaingun? Cacodemon dies from 3 shots. Third round there is worse, because there are 2 or 3 Hell Knight, they are much healthier, than cacodemons.

I picked new perk without any idea, how worth it is, just to learn, what new Kornel added. It was third perk, that i choosed, because it opens only after 2 levels of EagleEye. I saw something new and thought, why not to try? It's effect i realized only after 3 levels))(Yes, i'm fast!!). First level of Intuition allows to see, what current lever is doing(summoning monsters, flooding floor with lava etc). It is VERY usefull, because you don't need to risk your life to find helpfull lever(armor depot, or MediKit depot). Second level of this perk allows to see ALL powerups on level: invincibility, berserk, health restorators, armor shards. It is VERY usefull(i think, no need to explain, why)). And third level allows you to see ALL monsters and their movement. With third level you can, if you have low health, locate medikit, avoiding any monsters, avoid destroying unseed powerup, that you want to pick up later, kill monsters on the other side of map, if there is no obstacles between you and them. You can't be ambushed. And much, much more. It is greatly more powerfull than Cat'sEye.

Edit(next day): I picked it once more and realized that Intuition on first level only grants you ability to see type of effect that lever have(beneficial, neutral, or negative). But on level 2 of Intuition it allows to see concretically what lever doing(as i wrote upper). Level one of Intuition then is less usefull, but level 2 and 3 is still worth picking.

It seems to me that Badass perk is not so good at all. It slowers the degradation of hp if you have them more than 100%. On higher level of Badass(2 or 3, i don't know) it totally stops degradation of hp above 100%.

I was third, who downloaded new version! BIG thanks to Kornel, it's REALLY great!! And after several hours of play(mayber 3 or 4) i beat the CyberDemon. Strange, but playing on Hurt Me Plenty isn't so difficult at all. Only Arch Viles are very tough, but new perk Intuition was created especially for them)) It is fun to fire rockets in unexplored area targeting only on red dots.))  Maybe it's cheat, but Arch Viles are cheaters too. Who was in Mortuary, they understand.)) Intuition is a VERY usefull perk, even on its first level. It saved my life, without it i surely won't be able to did it in first time. Also it's good that exp.levels requires less experience to archieve. On first levels, when you need only little amount of experience to proceed to next exp.level, it helps a lot to andavantege fast to good perks.
I haven't used shotguns at all. I tried, but it's not advantageous, i picked EagleEye as starting perk, and found a chaingun on level 2, so chaingun was much better. And later it is no reason to use double shotgun(in last version i always used it), because i had approximately 70 rockets, and it allowed me to use them everywhere. Really, there was no problems with rockets at all. And Cyberdemon i killed with only rocket launcher(he-he, targeting on red dot on the other side of map))). Unfortunately found no thermonuclear bomb at all. So only killed Cyberdemon)) But for first try it's not bad))
One more, to Kornel. On levels, where played music from first level(first, of course, and 21 or 22), sometimes sound of monsters sounds only halfed. Sound begins, but quickly silences. It's not a critical bug, but, i think, you want to know.
Again, thank you, Kornel, DoomRL is really GREAT game! Awaiting version 0990!!!

I finally did melee to level 15! I even killed one arachnotron with chainsaw! That was really hard, because you can do nothing in melee with 6 cacodemons, firing 3 ball at you every your turn. The only staff in my inventory is many useless armor, collected from all levels. I don't remember, but maybe there is some from level 3 or 4... I simply run out of medikits, then died. Hmm, interesting, how Cyberdemon is good in melee? But it's enought for me, i don't want to hear sound of chainsaw anymore! Rocket launcher is better, much better!
And one more: when playing melee i more feared human sergeants, than Knights of Hell, or Barons of Hell. You can run to Knight or Barons without problem, avoiding getting hit on distance, while sergeants successfully fire at you every 3 moves, and they don't want to move themselves.
P.S. Don't think, i killed Cyberdemon many times, but it was on another computer, so it is no information about this here.

Fortunately in the upcoming 0.9.8.5 melee is pumped up a lot -- I had a beta tester (Turgor) kick Cyber's ass without problems :D

Imho it's not good too. Cyberdemon is a mega-super-monster, so he must make player a challenge. In original DooM i can imagine killing Cyberdemon with pistol(i made it), but can't imagine killing him with fists or chainsaw. It must be posiible to kill Cyberdemon melee, but it must be hard.
