ASCII is fine for DoomRL, since there's not a lot to memorize and as said - it shows the entire floor at once.

Though for something much bigger like Crawl I'd take tiles any day.

There's plenty of space even in what seems like the most text-heavy trait, and if all these informational things would stick to the bottom of the screen instead of jumping all around the place:

It would be even less messy. And useful. And easier to get right into.

I see only wins in the implementation of this.

Oh - and for the record; this is somewhat what I had in mind with "if all these informational things would stick to the bottom of the screen"

Perfect. I think it's a valid downside to having the berzerk bonus. It encourages KILL KILL KILL and it makes it annoying to have to (l) everything or walk over to ID.
Hmm, those colors usually stand out as uncommon or rare equipment. Not saying it wouldn't work much better than white though. :)
Stairs are uncommon and rare in the way that every stair is a unique way that leads to the next floor - and there's no other stair that leads to the same floor! :p
(at least if we skim over the fact that stairs in special floor do BUT HEY)

The only reason I'm even mentioning this here is because it's rather silly for this assembly to throw out the bulk mod you used on it.

Because you could've just used the bulk mod to make that red armor last twice as long. Which seems more worthwhile unless I for some reason have a much better armor lying around.

The fireproof assemblies are quite weak (30% fire resistance is just barely better than a red armor, and in addition you get -30% melee), and to add insult to injury; they don't even keep the bulk mod effect once assembled.
This doesn't exactly count for the boots - though it seems annoying that they lose the bulk mod, and I say 'seems' because I wouldn't dream of blowing the mods on them.

So while the boots could keep the status quo (though 125/150% durability might be nice) - the fireproof armor assembly really should just keep its 200% durability from the bulk pack.
Unless all balance is based on something like Ao100 where you're guaranteed to pick up a lot of mods even if you aren't killing anything, which is kind of a bad balancing point.

Oh yeah, I entirely forgot that I saw the berserker armor this game.
And I wouldn't be surprised if the dragonslayer spawned somewhere too - but such things are hard to find when your motto is "GOTTA GO FAST" throughout all 100 levels.

So turns out that hellrunner 3, antigrav boots and necroarmor stack quite well into a total of 0.25s movement speed. (0.17s while running!)

But yeah, just a hundred levels of INTENSE PACIFISTIC ACTION!! ..though wait a minute hell is raging and i just wasted a plethora of time just to not do anything and not nuke anyone for this

Sadly I didn't have any nuke handy for floor 100. Oh well. :(

Also if you guys want a more correct progression, don't do

How about +5% resistance for non-intrinsic (like plasma for blue - and fire for red, you get it) and +10% (up to 50%?) for intrinsic armor resistances?

It wouldn't be great (in fact it might be more worthwhile to have it at +10/15%), but it sure would be better than some knockback resistance!

Yes, this would be a good idea.

What else are badges for but to serve as a complimentary self-accomplishment bonus if you get them? It's much less satisfying to get things in the easiest way possible than in the hardest.
And if we're talking competition - then what competition? Even if you use a steamroller combo for said badges, it'd still be seen as lame that you did so - and that wouldn't win you anything.

So yeah, if anything things like AoMC should be allowed as a secondary challenge for stuff like AoSh/AoMC and dumb stuff like AoHu/AoMC.

tl;dr: Why punish fun opportunities because of some people (potentially!) being lame and taking the easy way to do a challenge.

Ahaha, this run was pretty interesting in the start, but got much easier once I got shottyhead. But only because I actually got to assemble the Tactical Shotgun.
Oh boy is it good with Shottyhead back at Phobos.

Did I mention City of Skulls is a BREEZE with Shottyhead? I didn't even get hit, took the first barrage out just in time. :p

Things started to get really funny once I got both the Gothic set (found the armor) and the Jackhammer in the Vaults.
Once I found the phaseshift armor in the lava pits, however - haha. I was moving quite literally at 0.32s (that also means full reload) and firing at 0.25s, WITH A JACKHAMMER. arr

I also got you guys an archive with a save with me having the Gothic set. (Unfortunately the Phaseshift was a bit too late. :p)
Just in case you'd like to witness the RoflTrain that is the Shottyhammerhead.


BTW, the tactical armor is kinda really useless, really. 10% Dodge chance is not all that useful when you take full damage.
If I should come with a suggestion, I'd say 10% extra dodge chance if you have both on as a set. Because you're really missing out on armor, unless you're really unlucky with the cRuel Number God not giving you any.

Or well, would you prefer to start god knows how many games to try very specific pieces of equipment (cRuel Number God, remember?) with specific builds?

Cheating isn't always about winning, is what I'm saying.

Talking about modding, any plans on including OBLIGE-like modding support? (Actually only the latter of the below example)
By that I mean defining new/modifying existing actors (Not OBLIGE), and then defining the RNG stuff. (Min. DLevel, frequency, etc.)

Because single-level mods are kind of useless as mods, honestly.
