Nope, my idea is right.
You cheat because you want to have fun from winning (well, most people play to win and have from it). But if you play this way you are unable to win without cheat.
If everyone thought the same as you and went your way, there would be no sense in playing this game.
There would be no sense in making difficulty levels, challenges, whatsoever.
The fun in roguelikes is not entirelly based on completing the game. The fun is to learn strategy that helps keep you alive and eventually leads to the end of game.

Cheating in real game (not testing) is for losers and braggers. Everyone can win with cheating, but only skilled player can win without cheating.
You may have fun, but you also steal fun from the people that truly deserve it.

About BFG's I never used them. Because I never use more than two weapons. There is just no place for those cells anyway. And i usually fight on AoMr, so I don't think BFG is so usefull.
And I really wish I cleared The Vaults (especially the middle one). Maybe there was Anti-Freak Jackal :) .

I did not know I am on cybie level until I noticed "mechanical footsteps". It was the first time for me to get there (I am not new to roguelikes, but I am pretty new to DoomRL).
I kept both BFGs "just in case" - this approach helped me few times (example: Mortuary).
And I just read in Wiki that I could use special attack with TriGun. Dang, another reason to go there with Pistols again :) .

I made a small break in AliensRL and tried this silly game. After few deaths on Easy dificulty I got some experience and ventured into Medium.
At start I had problems dealing with The Arena and The Wall so ...I changed a nickname :) . This was perfect choice :) .
The game could be 100%, I believe, if I did not go into The Vaults. This few phase devices were not enough to make me jump inside the middle one - and I have no knowledge if there is another way to get in there. At least I managed to clean 2 other vaults after using around 30-40 rockets trying to find a breakable part of wall.
I wanted to make Pistol(s) build, but after passing The Arena successfully, the game started to spoil me.

When I got onto Cybie level I had immunity, so I decided to bug him with Pistols. When it ran out he was pretty damaged, so I continued tickling him with bullets. He was pretty stupid to blast himself with his RL few times as well and my spammage was fast enough, so when he dropped dead I did not use any other weapon on him :] .

Adding some kind of Combat Knife to a game could be possible, but I wonder what kind of damage would it do.

A (warriors) are quite easy to get killed with almost everything, so maybe you should search for other weapons / ammo ?
Personally, I do not remember too many melee weapons in the Alien film series or AvP games, and I do not think melee fight would be suitable for humans.

Yeah, I found strange "bloody walls in a middle of a room" too - Just I had no idea why they were there.
As for armors - it would be ok if you could unequip an armor (drop to floor). Now you can only switch them with the one that is already on ground, I think.

Kornel mentioned about "unlocking master level", so I was not sure what to think about it (and I am still unsure :P ).
As for now, it works like you mentioned - tested on one (already dead from boredom) Elite Marine :) .
I noticed one small silly bug though - after taking a master level in skill, there is another level - "maximized".
You can't take it, but there is still the cost (in experience points) next to it.
In my opinion it would be better just to show "master" with a special color (golden/yellow or sth like it) and without a cost to a "next imaginary level".
