In my specials list, I'm missing two items - one between Hell Staff and Trigun, and the other after Angelic Armor.
Obviously, one is Dragonslayer... found it five times, never managed to pick it up... but what on earth is the other? After my AAo666 runs, I was quite sure I'd have them all, but apparently, one is still hiding from me.
Is there another yellow, beyond Angelic, Longinus, and Azrael's? If so, that would explain why I didn't find it in AAo666... but still... what is it?
-
The first one, sandwiched between Hell Staff and Trigun, is the new 0.9.9.7 unique, the Mjollnir.
The last six are, from left to right and top to bottom, are:
Longinus Spear, Azrael's Scythe, Arena Master's Staff, Angelic Armor, Berserker Armor, and [something], which I am missing, but obviously it's that bigass sword that only the coolest of cool kids are able to pick up.
-
Alright, I've never heard of Mjolnir.
I'll go have a look at the wiki, thanks.
Huh, weird, it's just a regular green... wonder why it never turned up?

On average, you need to find something like five thousand or ten thousand (the wiki's table of weights hasn't been updated to include Mjollnir yet) randomly generated items to find one Mjollnir. The Vaults - which are a significant source of green weapons - exclude melee weapons from the drop table.
-
I'll just drop to confirm that the one in the corner next to berserk armor, below angelic is indeed the dragonslayer.
Mjollnir is extremely rare. I've never even seen that thing spawn.
-
Mjolnir not so rare - find 3 of it. And not understand for whom that thing. Seems useless. if not melee build - useless. For marine MVm with single melee weapon chainsaw much more good. Well, in 2 runs as technician MMB, 1d15 not-a-sword, non-moddable? what a peace of junk! )) But not find Cleaver :( no. never since 0.9.9.7.

Oh, I didn't necessarily want to use it - I was just looking at Armorer Diamond.
Though I suppose without the ability to pick up Dragonslayer, that's irrelevant anyway...

no-no, you need only try to pick up it and it counts as *found* and add Dragonslayer to list of items.

In .997 you must pick it up.

In .997 you must pick it up.
That's really harsh if true.
-
It IS a diamond badge after all...
-
It also blocks a gold.
-
Yes, but it's not dependant on Skill in the normal sense. Technician Diamond isn't either.
However, Technician Diamond can be achieved by grinding out an AAo666 run or two, if someone is willing to do so. As a former MMO player, grinding is part of my skillset.
Unfortunately, Armorer Diamond is different. Its prestige is based solely on the restriction of certain information(or, presumably, a very precise knowledge of a manga I've never read.) While it's possible that I'll eventually improve my level of play to the point where I can pick up a couple other skill based Diamonds, I'm not entirely sure how to go about dealing with Armorer. I could, in theory, be capable of every Angelic badge(save the really luck dependent ones like Pacifism), but still not have any access to Armorer Diamond.
Out of curiosity, which Gold does it block?
-
So, you've found DS 5x so far, but mjolnir not a single time?
...
I keep finding crap like mjolnir all the dang time and I have never, in all those years I play DoomRL now, even once found dragonslayer T___T
-
The armorer (gold) badge of course !
Same as the diamond, but 1 of each needed only (I don't really understand the logic behind.. probably giving some badges for pure grind, but since DS blocks both of thoses anyway...)
-
Trade ya.
At least I know how to pick Mjollnir up...
Funny, you'd think it'd be reversed, and Mjollnir would be the one no mere human could lift. Though to be fair I know nothing about the lore behind DS, so maybe that makes sense, too...
My Armorer Gold must be from a previous version, since it's listed as achieved. I kinda port my player file between versions, because I'm too bad at the game to re-do everything every time. I'm still not clear on how either blocks the other, though - when you find them all once, you get gold. When you find them all three times, you get diamond.

You know how shounen anime series like to have those ridiculous swords with blades as long as the hero is tall and wider than his head that he still somehow wields one-handed? The Dragonslayer from Berserk is like that... except that the blade weighs as much as it actually should weigh.

Frankly I think all those marines who claimed to have wielded the dragonslayer are bullshitting. I mean... face it, unlike Guts, UAC marines just ain't sexy enough for that.

I think he meant that if you can't pick up DS, you can't get Armorer Gold.

If we go with the comic version, you can only lift it if you are worthy. A marine who, alone, clears hell itself? I think he qualifies...
