2 quick questions:

1. If I skip special stages can I still get 100% kills?

2. What's a couple common strategies for beating extra special secret boss?

1. You can skip special stages and still get 100% kills.

You only don't get 100% kills if you leave a level when not everything is dead. But you can leave Hell's Arena after the first or second waves are done, opt out of continuing and still get YAAM--you only won't get YAAM if you summon the next wave(s) and leave the floor.

2. Shoot at it until it dies.

Edit: I'm sorry if that's not useful, but I think it's worth trying a few times and then experimenting afterward. The easiest way is probably just have a really strong melee build and be able to berserk-steamroll everything.

I don't have an opinion on most assemblies. The only assemblies I really care about on most runs are: Tactical boots, fireproof boots, fireproof armor and depending on if I'm in a weapon-restricting challenge: elephant gun or speedloader pistol. Sometimes I make a powered red/blue armor if I get a N-mod from Armory/D-Lab, but it's not that big of a deal if I don't get it. Same with the O-mod, but I've found that outside Armory/D-Lab a few times.

Funnily enough, all of those assemblies I listed are basic assemblies.
I don't need WK to make any of those. I just need the RNG to do what it does best and gift me a mod pack every now and again. Doesn't happen all that often but you know what? Procedural generation. Make the best out of your current situation while dealing with the crap the RNG shoots at you.

Reminded me of this:

I remember having this issue when I started playing. Problem was, I was on an old laptop with no numpad. This being something like 9.8.something, I was well and truly stuck. :P

I had this "problem" when I was first learning how to play roguelikes and I chose Angband to start off with. There's a lot of "closed-off" diagonal paths in that, and I was playing on a laptop without a numpad. Fun times.

When I asked that question I thought the stairs were a little bit outside of the normal LOS.
Turns out, not really.

So I guess to answer my own question: Spider's Lair is probably a death trap for speedrunning, unless you have armor that has high plasma resist, like a powered blue armor or an energy vest/shield.

5) Know which special levels are death traps and which ones you can immediately escape from (ie you're spawned right next to the stairs).

Do you consider Spider's Lair to be a death trap (for speedrunning purposes)?

You can move diagonally to move out of your starting area.

The 2 additional tiles added to your LOS as a result of MCe. The ones you don't normally get without MCe.
I want those highlighted--no, not like the magenta X that you see with Int2. I mean the tiles themselves; those get color-coded. So then if I have MCe I know if any enemy "sees" me or not if it's at the very border of my extended LOS.

Any chance this could be a thing? Maybe highlight the +2 LOS tiles could be in a light/transparent yellow to tell the player what is in the extended Cateye LOS. Could be useful to tell when some enemies are potentially in firing range and you need to make a decision to run away or keep attacking. Stuff.

We're surrounded. That simplifies our problem of getting to these people and killing them.

That sums up my opinion of the "You feel like you're being targeted" level feelings. I've only gotten those on Ao100 and when I did I was already steamrolling.

F-modded Plasma Rifle???

As someone who mostly ignores rapid-fire weapons and energy weapons, this is most amusing. Tell me more.

I noticed that you didn't actually get MGK until quite late into the game. And all those mods you got during that run...You had enough A-mods to make two speedloaders and a set of tac boots...that's 4 A-mods in a standard run. Seems like the RNG was friendly enough to give you some nice armors, but I guess it got the last laugh in the long run. As it usually does, I suppose.

I guess you'd carry two pistols with you at all time since you were building DG/MGK, but I see you also had a third pistol with you--an Energy Pistol. It's so obvious why you would, yet this is the first time this has occurred to me that having a source of damage that deals plasma damage is a wonderful idea if you're building a pistol build. Again, the fact that you'd need even more mods for that...And you made that rather late, at Erebus, even.

Also, Arena and CC+ on AoMr and Purity? On UV? Holy.
Now I feel like trying AoMr + AoP on UV HMP but with MSs. Haven't seen nearly as much success from MGK as I have had successes from building MSs. :)

Unfortunately there are no platinums or diamonds awarded for birthday Doomguys, as far as I know of.

Purity's always an interesting challenge. It's one that terrifies me, but often when I want a Dual-Angel compliment I find myself picking Purity more often than not.
