Well...:

1) Thanks for rubbing it in. I know ;(
2) I hardly had use for anything else, was waiting for F/O/N mods and/or a chainsaw to continue modding. Figured I might as well stack up on ammo. Unfortunately, I mistakenly used my last homing phase and hadn't been able to replace it, and the previous level I got blindsided by a mancubus firing from an unexpected angle, and burned through one of my 2 large med kits.
3) I pulled out the cerberus pair because I had no room to maneuver. I had to step onto the lake not to get caught in the splash of rockets hitting the wall behind me. It was the combination of cybie to my north and the revenant to my east that took me out, had it been either one by itself I would have easily pulled through.

Ok, so that ended a lot sooner than I'd banked on:

Like I said, I was playing this game mainly for kills, assemblies and items, and to that effect I wasn't disappointed. Some levels were even considerate enough to just dump everyone at my feet :D

Despite all my defensive measures (INT2 and lotsa speed), I had a hard time dragging out that UAC gold, but once I had it in the pocket, everything went pretty smoothly. Had the luck of finding the GCB very early on, never short on ammo, halfway towards the Inquisitor set. Wish I'd found the other half sooner D:

Level 117 started with lots of purple stars just outside my vision: formers and barons, so I start blasting away, going through half of the level's inhabitants before anything can move. Then I hear a familiar *CLUNK* on my right. And revenants. And as I try and take cover to my left, I realise there is none, and I'm stuck with a puddle of lava and some napalm barrels. To top it off, in the end I dodged into the revenant's attack, which triggered a barrel to go off as well. Totally forgot my phase.

Oh well. Having gotten Sharpshooter out of my system, it's time to finally give Malicious Blades a try, methinks.

Understandable. It hasn't been too hard to find a moment to consider the game, but contrary to real life stuff, you're constantly having to pick up the vibe again in order to produce something meaningful. Which - with a full time job and a part time education - has been harder than I'd expected.

Sorry to see you go, but no hard feelings.

@thelaptop, what are your thoughts on this?

There have indeed been some recent changes due to the large influx of undesirable new elements under the registered members - of which disabling links in signatures was one. The permanency of each of these is not set in stone just yet, and your input on this part is noted herewith.

In the meantime, you can of course still add it as your website.

EDIT: although it would appear the ink is still in you signature, albeit in an aesthetically less pleasing way.

I also noticed a "Klear Cross" - those who remember Klear as a forum member might guess what the medal is awarded for, and others can, well, guess too (or code-dive for it).

Hehehe... this will most likely have something to do with

And since neither the Wiki nor the source code mention any existence of GCB alt-fire, all of the maths may be moot.

Good point. Still, I salute you.

I started with Son of a Gun for the extra damage and reload speed, but it didn't help too much since the extra damage likely didn't save me an extra shot too often, and I would already reload quickly with the Ammo Chain.

For the record, SOG increases fire speed, not reload speed.

One thing I started to adapt to was using more aimed shots with the pistols. Initially, I figured taking twice as long to fire offsets the missed shots I would otherwise likely hit with the accuracy bonus, but there are some subtle details that make aimed shots significantly better. For starters, the consistency goes way up, which allows for stronger planning of how to move around and firing. The other thing is if there were nearby enemies that were nearly dead, I would occasionally miss each shot and take unnecessary damage. I've used aimed shots before, but now I've started using them constantly, and it helps a lot!

And I'll trade that bit of info for this one: I had totally forgotten this is an option. And on my current run (MSs Ao666 around dlev 30 - and with a GCB!) this might well come in handy. Although with a mandatory EE3, I don't know how much difference it'll make. Anybody care to do the math on this one?

My only regret was not finding the Dragonslayer and having permanent berserk, at that point I would be effectively immortal with near 95 percent resistances, tho I'm eventaully gonna try for the A0666 to see if I can ever get my MB Techie that berserk just for lol's.

This one just hit me: how did you plan on wielding DS if and when you finally found it?

Too late, gave up on run and suicided.

After 300-something levels? Please tell me you mean you got yourself killed so at least the several millions of kills and item finds still count...

« on: October 12, 2017, 01:07 »
I seem to recall the... peculiarities of Juggler have been discussed before, don't know whether or not the mouse wheel thing came up back then. *rummages around in the archives* If fact, it did.

Long story short: the game suffers and/or benefits from some unintended side effects, which I assume this is one of. As Tormuse said, it's unlikely that this will change - by way of a new version - any time soon.

Not being restricted to melee weapons means you can offset the lack of resistances with a good offense: on HNTR, even just using shotguns should get you through the first levels easily enough. You'll just have to wait before you start relying on melee tactics.

It lets you run right up to your enemies, dodging most of the incoming fire and protects you from a majority of their already weak melee attacks.  It's difficult to get started, but quite powerful if you use it properly.

Yeah I'm starting to see the beauty here...
