Pre-0.9.9 / YASD: My first try on the Cyber!

I remember last time I fought him I found that rockets worked surprisingly well.  I think I had a fastload launcher at the time...

Yep, it's random like all the other items.  I usually get mine around lvls 16 to 18, but I've never gotten more than one yet.

Doofus, level 1 soldier, killed by a former human sergeant
on level 1 of the Phobos base.
He survived 852 turns and scored 0 points.

He killed 1 out of 6 hellspawn. (17%) (One guy was shot by a soldier)
Who gave him the ticket to hell, anyway?

Apparently monsters killed by other monsters don't add to your score.

-- History ---------------------------------------------------
He started his journey on the suface of Phobos.
There finally he was killed by a former human sergeant.

Apparently, the lower your health is when you die, the lower your score.  I had this guy race through and stand in front of the seargent.

It's probably not possible to get a negative score, so see if you can get 0 points and the lowest ending health (since that seems to affect the score the most here).

I thought it would be interesting to see how LOW a score I could get!  Here it is!

*I think you get points for your items, so I dropped my stuff as soon as I could.

*None, but I had to make sure none of the soldiers stupidly shot each other to get to me.

-- History ---------------------------------------------------

He started his journey on the suface of Phobos.
There finally he was killed by a former human.

I got 43 points!  Can anyone else do better-- I mean, worse?
And if anyone thinks this was a complete waste of time, that's what video games are for!

Requests For Features / Creatures attacking another?
« on: June 30, 2006, 22:44 »
If you position a monster directly between you and another monster, the monster in the back will shoot the monster in the middle.  In level one, if you are doing the melee challenge, you can get the Sergent to blow away some of those former humans that way.

It would be cool to have the monsters retaliate to friendly fire... I don't know how hard that would be to program.

Alright, with that first one I had relied heavily on cpoying the save file, but now I have decided to no longer do that.  I was able to finish THIS guy without any cheats whatsoever!

Before him 1 brave souls have ventured into Phobos:

Some rumours though, say that the Cyberdemon was killed already!
Is he immortal? 1 souls claim to have killed him...
1 killed the bastard and survived.

--------------------------------------------------------------

One interesting thing, look at how many medkits I have.  I used ONE against the Cyber Demon, and two more on level 18.  If you're smart enough with the powerups and health globes, you will never need a single medkit...

Requests For Features / Playing as a demon
« on: June 24, 2006, 02:41 »
Hey everyone.  Here's an idea.  What if as a bonus for beating the game at a certain difficulty level, the game unlocks a special level where you play as one of the demons?  For instance you could play as an Arch-Vile, killing humans and resurrecting them as your own minions?  Maybe the higher score or difficulty you beat the game in, the stronger demon you get to play?

Imagine my shock when I first played Halflife and all the scientists started calling me "Mr. Freeman!"

Also, when I signed up for the forums here, I thought it was asking for my real name, and after I gave that it would let me choose a username.

If any moderators are reading this, I would like to change my name if it isn't too much of an inconvenience

Requests For Features / Graphs for DooM Roguelike

Even though I am a great fan of ASCII, the subtle color changes don't show up well on my computer.  I've spent many sleepless nights agonizing over all the double shotguns that I must've walked past because they looked like pistols on my screen...

Go graphics!

I beat the Cyberdemon by collecting 4 plasma rifles and overcharging them all, then I finished him off with two busts of ye olde BFG.  In the battle I used a large medkit and a phase device.

Wow, what a rush, I didn't expect to beat him on my first encounter with him!
