Heh.

I guess if you can attain that rank, Nightmare! is not challenging at all.

However, I think this'd be a lot of work for no audience whatsoever. Even the best DoomRL player I'm aware of was nowhere near Chaos Marshal when he last played - although it may eventually have been possible. Beyond that individual, I don't know of any DoomRL players, current or former, who have the potential to earn that many Angelic badges.
If you're talking about 2dev, as far as I know, he only played for 4 A badges.


Nope, it just will suffer from current difficulty problem even more: (almost) impassable early levels, cakewalk after armory.
And surely chaos marshals are nonexistent (and do not really shows any specific skills since majority of angelic badges just requires A LOT of luck).
All we need is to adjust current UV and N to make them a little harder since game became easier in past few releases.

It will suffer if there wouldn't be any changes. It should be difficult from the very beginning until the end. Life cap for player and random boss summoning with improved speed and cateye.  The most difficult badge for me is AAo666, I once played it while it was beta, and I don't want to try it again, it's just boooooooring. Difficulty scales badly after 150+.
I personally think that N+ would be great for those who want new challenge with restrictions based on A or AA. If you don't want then you don't play. It's fair.
I want to play this kind of difficulty, and one of the difficulties should be imbalanced against player.

This is insanely unfair difficulty:
All of the enemies are replaced with it's N! or boss copies.
To give this difficulty bonuses: 2x or 3x or 4x the exp.
And unique items spawn more often (2x-4x).
Also random events are doubled/tripled.
Unlocked on Chaos Marshal-- till No-Life King rank.
And yes, you can play all of the challenges with this difficulty.
This difficulty is for those people for whom regular N! is not enough.
And this difficulty should have some new special events.

I think that there should be challenge for those who can finish this game on N!. Also almost all of the AA challenges are easy, if you know the idea. There are 3 difficult for me: AAo666 (boring), AAoH (true challenge), 100% N! damageless  (easy to make a mistake).

Hexen had  hubs. You could visit some levels again. I think it's possible now (Inferno module had special levels where you can come back to the previous lvl).

no, no references to ADoM here. ID in ADoM is interesting and have a lot of things like weapons, armor, spellbooks, potions and so on. Monsters have levels and rat lvl 10 is more dangerous than troll level 1. We have a lot of possibilities like gardening, alchemy, reading books, pickpocketing enemies and so on. Descending to infinity in DoomRL just booooring. Imagine: past level 300 only monster for such danger level is a Cyberdemon. And you are welcome to infinity of Cyberdemons )) Again and again. Until you die. Not funny at all. Sorry.

Change Mort/Limbo+UC  (demons to N! demons V to N! V...) after special conditions (uw cond) (if they were not satisfied then normal spawn). Also You can change ME and LP.
Archangel of minimum damage (you deal min damage always enemies — maximum).
Archangel of should be selectable in double angel.
Adjust the hell armory to be equal to DL.
New special level:
"You feel that you're playing different game"
On this level there will be enemies from different RL with items from those RLs.

Special levels for Ao100-666:
Boss base: You're fighting with bosses C, M, JC, and so on.
Abandoned base: A base with insane marines.

hmmm, I think you're right.
The difference in weapons will give an opportunity to change run, and also enemies will be more dangerous (they're using those weps).
I think that uniques should have the same properties. Do not know about exotics.
And there was a problem that bosses have the same amount of health, and the only more or less dangerous enemy is Angel of death.
Cybies are predictable and with new set they are useless, Lava Elemental is better but useless when you wear new set. Shambler and Mastermind are predictable too. The main idea is to overrun them and/or find a suitable wall.
They could be more dangerous if they will try to make predict shots (not to fire in you but in the near block) and if they will fire out of LoS (they hear your footsteps and they can miss). And I think that M Apo JC C should be rebalanced (health, damage).

former human health: 4d5 (min 5 max 20) and so on.
accuracy: -5 + 3d1
speed: 70 + 10d4
resistances...
And yes, only random damage is boring, accuracy, fire speed and so on.
And also, traits should be less predictable. The build should vary, based on some facts like in adom as for an example. (born with one hand or is slower then usually or has 1 dam threshold)

Make sure to equip a weapon when playing Angel of Pacifism - it's the only way to glitch into a super secret level!
BTW: DS will be in your hands + BA = UW, so you're right. but it will be difficult, very difficult.
