Buffing to 75% chances of getting 0 damages would be doubling efficency.  (chances of losing 1hp divided by 2), but here, you completely remove this chance, which can't be expressed in term of %

Anyway, I personally think this trait is quite useless, and was surprised to notice this 50% thing nerf when I used it, since good players tend to never get hit.  I guess it must have been added after some "abuses" with P-modded red + TaN or things like that, which probably made characters invulnerable too easily.
The only run in which I used survivalist was... an AoHu run. I tanked with a freaking AoHu, even through the mortuary ! It was ridiculous, and made the trait fun... for once.  But this trait blocks SoB, so... still "worst trait ever" for me :p

And about your idea, well... I wouldn't argue against a buff, btw, but the overheal is more interesting than the ability to become 100% invulnerable, and nerfing that looks like a bad balance choice

I remember reading that BRU3 can be a wiser choice than BER for the arena, since you usually proc your berserk after killing the enemy you're facing, which makes it pretty useless.
I'm not sure I ever entered the arena on N! (or that I tried N! AoB outside of the funny&imbalanced dual angel challenges), so I can't help much, but yep, you need luck on medkits and/or spawns.

I don't think mob respawn is the biggest problems, since you got cacos to clean up the place, since the challenge dones't let you to much choice : you gotta ruuuush in, which doesn't takes too much time with our melee damages.

Anyway, quite crazy badge, but many diamonds are !
I don't think it's the hardest, since the requirements are probably more luck than just skill.

Actually I used to get that too a few times.
I made some sound optimizations, which should hopefully fix it. I didn't have any problems after those.

EDIT : added the acceleration on click (and phone & tablets playability)
There's still something left to add... I dunno what yet (apart from difficulty level), but I think something is still missing.

EDIT : I just realized I added (ugly) tags in the topic name. Bah, I wanted something funny, but... I'm afraid it would have been quite obscure without those. So, since forum is "off topic" anyway, I opted for a non-ambiguous topic name.

You can choose another bonus by clicking on those stupid social buttons (**** this), but currently it needs a click at every game, which is, to say the least, annoying (I didn't want that !)
Also, it's just -1 speed, so it won't change much, but I'll PM you some solution :p

We'll release the easy/hard difficulties soon, they aren't completely ready yet but it might be what you are looking for

Also, after having a few feedbacks, I think I'll add something like "maintaining mouse click doubles ball speed temporarly (and gives some points)".
I have to implement and test it before putting it in production, but it definitly sounds like an interesting idea.

Hi, gamers !

We released a new game with mates yesterday. Not any link with doom, but we worked hard to have a polished gameplay and a high difficulty (skill levels are still in beta and should be released very soon, including a not-even-remotly-fair hard mode ;)).

The concept is simple to understand, yet tricky to master : you play both Tetris and Breakout at the same time, and have to break the bricks containing the shapes you need to fill your lines without missing the ball.
Not intended for casual players, hence, my post on this forum.

By the way, your score will depend not only on your survival ability, but also on your capacity to score combos destroying many bricks, or filling as much lines as you can at once. Planning and strategy have their place here.

I think it's more than what a beginner needs to pwn the game
Btw, the wiki is also a very valuable source, for all undocumented information.

Concerning build, if you want to improve, I'd advise to avoid intuition. Rather take SoB, HR or Fin->WK. (My first success were with Iro, but this skill is quite useless once you know how to avoir beeing hit)
Intuition makes things easier, and sometimes helps you to understand monster's behaviour, but will also (most of the time) prevent you the need to think. Not the best way of learning.

I'm using XP too.
The only problems I get are when I tab. I sometimes lose keyboard input, or have weird things like this. Usually, tabbing again fixes it.
My game might also have stopped a few times, but it's rather rare, and I never have any problem if I don't use alt-tab.

Don't like it much either.
Random accuracy sounds like a good way to put in Yet Another Junk Item.

The overall idea might be interresting, really, but currently... I don't see why I should use a grenade and kill myself, or bring that baron next to me, while I can just shotgun him and a wider area for the same ammount of damages.

Too bad you lost your laser rifle. sniper makes plasma rifle more than decent, but the increased accuracy of the exotic version is really insane. Just count how much "boom" messages you get everytime you shoot an enemy !
Also, don't forget that the 2nd sniper rifle gives you accuracy beyond your LOS. It might not be the best choice, but I always keep 2 slots on my plasma guns for sniper mods.

That's why I never pick SoB 5 or P-mod those.
12+ damages knocks back. 1 "lucky" roll on plasma rifle gives 7 damages, add 5, and you're screwed :(

What ? You might not have completed Spider's lair on 0.9.9.7 yet, but it now drops a BFG instead of the cheat plasma rifle, and is paired with halls of carnage, which still ensures one.

Also, Mortuary and Limbo have the nuclear version, which means you get 2 guaranteed BFG in a regular game.

Anyway, I doubt we're the only ones who got this idea. The problem is :even without gear, it will still remain a highly scumable challenge.

Getting Mortuary's nuke and reaching MM isn't that hard when you just need to find some globes on your earlier levels.
Especially with a scout, which knows stairs, and can map-hack powerups at his first level :)

I think that's Malek's problem.
Most unique items have drawbacks : Necroarmor gives great ms and 6 armor, but drains your life, Lava is annoying to repair, shielded is very specific, cybernetic is cursed, and medical... sucks.
Malek ? Shines on all points : good protections, good ms, and regenerates quickly, for free.
Even enviroboots, which are 5% slower than A-modded cerberi boots, are not interresting on angel of grind.

And it's the same for weapons : Trigun or BFG10K have drawbacks, one with its reload speed and the other with friendly fire.

Malek and its boots pair are just too good.
I'm already happy enough when I find a necro, phaseshift, or nuclear plasma rifle !

Should rarity be a counterbalance for power ? Well, this is a roguelike, so of course, average items (vanilla weapons and armors, etc.) have to be common, while some better ones need to be rare.
But I hate items witch completely change the game, like Malek's ones, or that stupid DS.

Currently, they usually occur late enough, so it doesn't change much the game, since the hard part is Phobos. But I hope we'll fear hell again in a few versions, and the problem of OP stuff making it a cake will come back again.

I kinda like the idea, but why not nerf this insane suit a little more ?
3 armor points, with resistance to plasma/acid/fire, AND great movespeed boost looks like the best possible suit to me.
Sure, cerberi are fun, but they make you slow, and don't have those 3 flat protection points. Also, they don't regenerate, and O-modding them prevents from using an A or P instead.

The set bonus is really OP. Honestly, I didn't understand why the game's best armor has been buffed with this, while some other (really correct) armors could have been instead.
Why not put necro-boots, which give some ms and protection, and regenerate draining your health, but gib corpses you walk over for vampyre-like result when you get the set ? I'm sure most other unique armors could have fun pairs too.


Btw, (all) armors could also lose 25% efficiency when slightly damaged.

@Sereg : made my post more clear. No, plz, not 3 immunity sets, or then, make them useless for anything else... but this would suck. Just Neeeeeeeerf that damn malek !

Allowing any combination (dual, triple...) of angels and removing any medal gain seems like the easiest (and maybe most fun) way of handling it to me.
Only a few restrictions would be needed, like AoOc and AoC, which would be mutually exclusive.
It would keep the fun and remove all possible abuses...

Another Idea I had was to remove the benefits from the angels added after the first selected (starting gear, speed bonus, maxed out damages, shorter game, according badges, of course, and any other bonus, like AoMs' health at lvlup) while keeping the drawbacks.
As long as NO benefits would be exploitable from the second angel, I don't think there would be any issue anymore.
The real question, in that case, would be... would people play dual angels, only for challenge ? Well, if they don't, it just means people don't care about challenge, and just want to farm badges, which seems, alas, quite close to the current usual gamer's behaviour we encounter everywhere.

Personally, I'd also remove (or rather, tweak) AoMc, which is more challenging for the monsters than the player. AAo666 bugs mee too... Ao100 is already a quite long grind, but 666 is really ridiculous. I finished the one I started when 0.9.9.7 came out only a few weeks ago, since it was waaaaaaaaaaay too boring. (and I didn't even found a BA, only 3 DS, before figuring out how to pick it up...)
I know popular demand would take it's defense, but I'd really love this one to diseappear, just because it's a meaningless deviation of the game (from my humble point of view).


Nerfing N! could be good too, of course, but it will nearly prevent the possibility to play N! YAAM games. Also, removing farming ammo exploit will make N mods even more valuables... maybe N mod should be (only available as) a reward for some great achievement, but I have no idea of any relevant one, really.
I strongly believe the gameplay needs some big changes, and removing the possibility to play damageless, or the possibility to (quite easily) complete N! as YAAM would, in my opinion, be great improvements making gameplay more dynamic, but... that's not for the next version, really.
As thelaptop told me in some other thread, reaching version 1.0 needs to avoid big changes... and while I hate keeping known big issues, I must admit that continuously reshuffling the game's basis is not a solution either.
