Speak for yourself. Lua's an amazing language. Betcha'd see a lot more community effort. I wish someone would make a decent curses wrapper for Ruby, then I might start making that Civilization-themed roguelike I've always wanted to make. Roguelike developers all seem to want to live in ancient history. I'd rather let a pinkie chew my eyes out than program in C.

And on the topic of the Tactical Shotgun, I know I'm probably speaking blasphemy here, but I don't consider it to be that much better than the combat shotgun to be a definite no-brainer. Sure, it deals more damage and you don't need to pump, but I find that in the early game, enemies don't move so fast that pumping makes that big of a difference in your killing power. In the late game, I do most of my killing with a double-shotty in corner shooting position, relegating the combat/tac shotty to auxiliary roles, like taking out lone lost souls/formers.

Making a focused double-shotty therefore becomes a better choice for the mods. A focused DS allows me to change my playstyle, letting me come out of the corners into the open. The Mortuary is doable with nothing more than a P-modded focused DS, and you'll get an assault shotgun there anyway if you really want one. If I have the mods to make a focused double shotty after the armory, I'll hold on to them until WK2 and make do with a combat until I can assemble one. Usually I'll find a second tech mod, that goes on the CS. A tech-modded CS is really an under-appreciated weapon, the increased fire-speed makes up for the pump, producing a weapon that fires almost as fast as a tac shotty without using a precious power mod.

Edit: Looking at the Wiki, a tac shotty fires in 1 second, whereas a combat shotty fires in 1 sec with a .2 second reload time. A tech mod cuts fire time to .85 seconds, meaning a T1 combat shotty can fire and pump in 1.05 seconds. If you have WK1 or 2, you may want to think about just putting the mods on the CS without turning it into the tac version.

IS a focused double shotty that useful, really? I mean sure, you have superb concentrated firepower, but the reload time between EVERY BLAST and the fact that the damage is shrapnel (read: is stopped easily by armor without MAD), I think I'd take a tactical shotgun over it any day.
They only have a place in a shotgun run, where you'd take shottyman. They're worth making in Shottyhead and masterless Tech runs. Can't take WK in an MAD run, but even if you could, damage dealing isn't your problem there, so making one would be overkill.

They're awesome because they kill weak formers/imps without fail in one shot, anywhere in your sight range. And they take that damage with them at long range, meaning you can reliably knock back Viles/Arachs/Mancubi at the edge of your vision, giving you time to make it to cover so you can corner shoot them closer up. If you have Shottyhead, you can keep moving towards a Vile while shooting it, you'll probably kill it before it can damage you. Once I have enough ammo to last me the game, I usually drop other shotguns. Bringing more firepower to the table turns out to be worth the need to make a quick step between shots, because my move speed is usually .60secs or less.

Nano-shrapnel, on the other hand, even without the need for reloading, does poor damage, but still knocks your enemy back, meaning you have to stand there and fire over and over and over again, or move, which would reload your weapon anyway if you took Shottyman. Bigger enemies it won't knock out of your sight range. It just isn't as useful as it looks.

I made a nano-shrapnel double-shotty once. Results were underwhelming. Sure, the damage is piercing, but you get two fewer dice. Give me an unmodded super shotty over a nano-shrapnel on a shotgun run any day.

Of course, you can make a super shotty by P-modding a focused double. You heard it here first.

Malek's speeds you, not slows you. One of the best possible armors in the game. Only thing I think I'd take over Malek's is onyx- or nano-modded cerberus. Though if I got a nano mod, I'd make gravity boots before putting it on armor.

Knocked out AoLT while I was at it. The move-speed bonus I thought would work well with a Blademaster build, and boy did it. One of the easier challenges I've attempted, beat it on only the second try. Going to try MMB on AoI next.

Was having trouble fine-tuning my melee strategy. Kept wanting to go for move-speed like my last Shottyhead challenge, only as a Marine Vampyre. Finally decided to give that up and go with a passive defense, then my games started improving. Everybody dumps on TaN in the endgame, but an extra 2 armor does make the health gain from Vampyre go that much farther.

For awhile I was going Fin -> Fin -> WK2 because I wanted a Ripper, but when I finally did assemble that Ripper, I found that the -4 accuracy makes it a worse weapon than the Longinus Spear. A-mod would probably help there, but I died before finding one. Finally. when I decided to not do the Vaults and just take the stairs every level after the Mortuary, I was able to knock AoB off the "Silver Badge's to get" list. Kept wanting to do the Wall, with the homing phase from HA, but none of the phases I found on levels 1-6 put me behind it.

Notes: Try to get to Hell's Arena without using a single medkit. Then fight every demon with running turned on, and use a kit as soon as running expires. On AoB a Large Health globe spawns with the third wave, That + Berserker should see you through. CC+ is straightforward, grab the saw, and annihilate the Caco's/Knights with it, one more for the AM, save the last for healing. It's worth it, the dodge bonus from Tac Boots goes a long way in a melee game, and there's a lot of experience there.

Any particular reason why you assembled Power Armor as opposed to waiting for one more P-mod and doing Nanofiber Skin?

SM requires special tactics to defeat, for almost any build. +movespeed really really helps. If you can assemble Tac Armor + Tac Boots, then you'll be able to out-run her. You can only stand there and slug it out with her if you've a melee build. The Lava Element only gives nine turns of invulnerability. Use them wisely.

When I beat AoSh, it was with Shottyhead, tac boots, tac armor, and the assault shotgun from the Mortuary. I could unload the entire gun, then still have time to pop around the next corner, AND fully reload. She never got within range. Would have beaten her damageless if I weren't stupid in the beginning of the match.

Playing by SSH doesn't strike me as a very good idea unless you can figure out a way to forward sound over the SSH connection.

Seems legit.
Yeah, special levels are considered to be at the same depth as the level you entered them as. I never noticed that until recently. It's made me change my strategy to try to clear out more special levels because you get XP that you wouldn't have otherwise gotten the chance to get.

That works for the two on the left, but I'm wary about approaching the two on the right that way because losing one or both of the zerks really makes dealing with the AM difficult.
