I did a run on Nightmare mode, and here's the video of it.

I haven't finished watching yet, but cool video so far.  I like the the idea of having the overlay of your face in the corner.  What software do you use for that?  Maybe I can implement it in my videos?  :)

Also, where's the mortem for that game?

Actually capturing DoomRL and having it look good has long been a barrier, or I would have done stuff like this long ago. Finally I found Open Broadcaster Studio (OBS). Not only does it do a great job, but it's also freeware, can be used for streaming, and you can capture your face with a webcam while playing the game.

It does crash sometimes though :(


In the case of this video I decided to record the game, then after I was done playing to sit down and watch the video while commenting on it. I did it this way because DoomRL demands so much attention I'm not confident that I can talk coherently while playing it.

Yet.

I am getting better at this sort of thing. But I've still got a long way to grow.

Isn't that what I've been doing?  Or do I have to have more commentary during the video for it to count as a Let's Play?

In any case, I agree with Sum Gai's statement that it's hard to give any kind of coherent commentary while playing.  (I hope the commentary in own videos is at least half coherent)  :P

I'm a little nervous about the crashing part, but maybe I'll check out OBS in the near future.  :)

FFsplit is just about the same thing as OBS, so you should check both of them out and see which one of them you like the most.

More like eventually watching you streaming live on twitch or ustream or whatever newfangled things while commenting "live" and storing 'em streams.

I'm pretty sure that me streaming live would be more boring than you think it would be.  I really do die a lot in this game.  :P  So far, all I've posted are my best recordings, and I've got hundreds of others that will probably never see the light of day.

I'm not sure what that's a reference to, but I'll be sure to include that line in one of my videos.  :)

And I just realized that I'm filling up Sum Gai's thread, talking about myself, which probably isn't very nice, so I promise my next comment will be about your video.  :)

You underestimate how fun it is to watch someone die in-game.  I watch Binding of Isaac Let's Plays, and there are lots of deaths.  LOTS of deaths.

Sometimes I feel like I should record / stream my plays just in case something truly epic happens, like my first N! game ever AoB+AoOC Unholy Cathedral clear + standard win. Most of the time the games are pretty boring and I die from overconfidence, or lack the resources for the badge im hunting.
