Lost Souls use the Demon "hurt" sound. I'm in the middle of a game right now, so I can't toy with the files to try to find the right one, but the sound.lua file is pointing to the Demon sound filename. Copy-paste error?

One square's all you need. The square you select for the overwhelming majority of weapons only affects the angle.

The Revenant's Launcher is the only exception I know of, where you instead target a specific square.

Agility mods are not very needed since Gun Kata, Cat Eye requires you to take 2*Eagle Eye.
Gun Kata doesn't need Eagle Eye, it needs Dodgemaster and Dualgunner.

They're still not needed since pistols have good accuracy, but I'd use them before Bulk because I prefer having both of my guns run out of ammo at the same time, and I almost never get two bulk mods.

Huh. Never noticed that before, but I died in so many ways in 0.9.8.10 that they all just blurred together.

(edit: having checked my old install, it looks like the nuke penalty is new to this version.)

Seems kind of counterintuitive, though. You get more points for letting Cyberdemon kill you than you do for taking him down with you?

Ah well. Not like the score actually matters for anything.

Nice touch on the special message for a self-nuke at the end, Kornel.

I had an Advanced Combat Shotgun and Onyx Armor spawn on the same floor. Then they got hit by Mancubus missiles. Dammit!

Not that I got enough mods to bother - the Technical and Power mods on my Double and Combat shotgun respectively? That's it. Oh, and one Agility mod, but what use is that in AoSh?

City of Skulls is my favorite side trip on a shotgun run - very easy exp. That's where I got Army of the Dead.

On another note... why the hell is my score so low? o_O

Wouldn't have worked, the Arch-Viles were blocked by either walls (northern one) or a Revenant that kept reviving (western one).

In celebration of the new version coming soon, I decided to do one last 0.9.8.10 Ao100 attempt before I'd have to actually earn my way to it. (looks a lot easier this time, though, thanks guys!)

It went pretty well for a pistol run without a single unique spawning. And no damage mods. Came close to death a few times, but I had a great supply of medpacks. That doesn't do much for you when you have three revenants and two archviles to deal with, I note.

That rocket launcher was surprisingly useful earlier, even without Eagle Eye. One level I entered started with me staring down about 8 Cacodemons... and an Arachnotron around the corner... fun times, fun times. Never used the combat shotgun, though.

Should've nuked it right at the end there. Ah well, you die, you learn.

Baroque handles story interestingly. You learn more about the story gradually as you die repeatedly or replay the game.

But... this is Doom. It's a game about shooting demons. There's not much story to it, and I don't see anything wrong with that. If I want story, I'll play Deus Ex.

The inadvertent point of separating Ao100 and standard / challenge modes is actually to make the latter 2 modes present less randomized gameplay,
You must be new to roguelikes.

Roguelikes are randomized. It's a large part of the draw. I like the randomness, and I'm sure a lot of other people do too.

Also, it's true that three PDs and an HPD wouldn't guarantee you could get everything - but the HPD would guarantee that you wouldn't get trapped. And yes, I've been trapped there before, on an AoMr game that was going very well before then.

How'd you "balance" for only being able to phase into and out of the center room in the Vaults level? The bulk of the level is inside the vault rooms, meaning that a normal Phase Device is likely to take you right back into a Vault - run out in the middle and, without an HPD, you're screwed. You can't blast your way out of or into the middle.

If you try using Phase Devices, don't make the mistake I did - only do it if you have a Homing Phase Device! Otherwise you'll get stuck, and that's not good. I think that's why there's those little lava squares in there.

Four mancubi. Two archviles. An invulnerability globe. Guess which one I didn't get!

One of my better AoMr attempts, but my best... well, you see that "didn't read the bomb manual" thing? Yeah. I Phase Deviced into the Vaults, used a second one to try to get out because I didn't have a HOming Phase Device, and didn't have the Anti-Freak Jackal (can its explosions blast walls?).

So, for lack of any other option, I nuked the place that time.

But anyway. This run was going pretty well, despite Hell's Armory apparently not spawning and me apparently destroying one Unique. The lack of any damage mods was annoying, since on the "nuked the vaults" run I had three of the damn things, but the constant stream of Accuracy and Reload mods helped slightly.

I should've just used the Homing Phase Device to get out of that, but I wasn't expecting to go from 80% to 0% in one round!

Haven't had any unique luck these past few tries; missile launcher on one, gothic boots this time, one run without any... argh.

Amusing note: On one of my AoMr attempts, I just stood there plugging away at Mancubi that just kept being revived, almost never taking a hit. Then I moved and got too close to a wall. Yeah, I make really stupid mistakes around explosives.
