Any sort of instant kill weapon that isn't one shot wouldn't be balanced, I agree.

Yep. That's the point of Rogue Likes, to be damned difficult.

Line breaks, punctuation, and correct spelling. Use them, please.

Wow. Uh. Lot of condescension going on in here.
Really, I agree with the idea of making things not unlockable - I've been playing this game for 3+ years, but I've only beaten the game a handful of times. Playing the base game so many times has gotten a bit on the stale side, despite how much the game has changed over the years.
I've been doing some of the challenge ideas since long before they were official. I've loved the idea of a pistol only game, just because it plays so differently, etc. Some of the challenges just bore me, as compared to making the game more fun. I play the game for the challenge, sure, and really felt accomplished when I beat AoMr for my first time. Still, though, I ended up just replacing my Player File with Blade's, when he posted it a couple of weeks ago and have been having a blast with Ao100. Challenge, sure, but fun is more important.

Yeah. I saw your topic. This really sucks, don't it?

I thought the error where the player file would be not written to was fixed with this release, or the previous release?

I beat AoMr/Medium difficulty the other day, for the first time, and now I load up the game... To find that it never saved the results.

Though, I wonder, something. When does the game flush the changes to the file to hard drive?

As for Blaster - its firing time is not equal to that of a pistol, and that means that every so often you will lose shots, because the the timing differences.

But all that is irrelevant, since you only get unique pistols maybe once in a hundred games.

Indeed. It's FASTER than a normal pistol. Your rate of fire is based off both pistols. I'm not sure of the exact number, but if you have a pistol that shoots at 1s and one that shoots at .5s, you'll shoot faster than if you had two at 1s.

Good god.
What was your shooting time? I mean, christ, the Blaster is .5 and Trigun is .7, between that and SoaG x3, you must have been damned low.

Sheer, absolute, luck. I found a Blaster early on one of my AoMr runs. It was pretty awesome. That was the run it saved my ass, as it was also one of my first AoMr runs, and I was too stupid to horde 9mm ammo early in the game.

My build tends to run toward Finesse and then Whizkid before going for Cateye.
Typically, SoaG x2 -> DG -> SoaG -> EE -> Finesse -> Finesse -> Whiz -> EE -> Cateye x2

Of course, if I somehow find 2 artifact pistols, I'll pick up EE and then Cateye, but I've never had that happen. That would just be too damn amazing.

Actually, it gets down to about 3 dualshots per second. I forget my build and if it that was including the Blaster or not, but I remember getting down to about .36s per dualshot. IT's been too long since I've down any real good AoMr runs to post exact numbers.

I wouldn't say finesse is useless - It's just not as useful as other things. It works for certain builds and it doesn't work for other builds.

Yeah, tactics, as they used to be, are gone. It's been replaced with the current system. Running makes you move faster and dodge better, but be less accurate

A level-less RPG - a noble sentiment.

There actually have been a few (console) RPGs that have done this - Notably, the SaGa series of games, which, in the US, includes the Final Fantasy Legend GB games, as well as SaGa Frontier 1 and 2 on PSX. Final Fantasy 2, as well, went with a level-less system. In the both games, you leveled up in a number of ways, such as buying stat increases from stores, eating monster meat/equipping parts dropped by monsters, and random small stat gains after combat.

Chrono Cross slightly did this, in that you gained "levels", but only at certain plot points, so your level was fixed.

... Aside from that, though, I can't think of any other examples.

Now, in P+P games, it's actually more the norm to be levelless, anymore.

A) Don't be so quick to say "Fuck you" to people. Be civil.

B) It was clearly a joke.

I finally tried this game, too.
Pretty fun. I actually managed to overcome my annoyance at the standard controls and play it. =P
Can one of the next features be editting controls? >_>

Edit: I suck and didn't notice the diablorl.ini
Nevermind!

If Kornel doesn't have an archive, I still have 9.8, 9.8.5, 9.8.7, and and 9.8.9 on my computer. I could upload em, if that's a version you're looking for
