I'm still kinda bugged by the stuff like:
On level 17 he invaded the Unholy Cathedral!
He nuked level 17!
He then destroyed the Unholy Cathedral!
It would be nice to have some special lines for stuff like that and condense it a bit, eg.
On level 17 he invaded the Unholy Cathedral!
He obliterated it by a nuke!
On level 19 he entered the Vaults.
He cast the treasure and its guardians into nuclear fire!
On level 20 he was foolish enough to enter the Mortuary!
A nuclear blast purified this unholy place thoroughly!
Something like that...
I can already see myself nuking the arena on the rare occasion when I get a nuke this early just to see what the mortem says about it =)

I keep catching myself trying to find the 'Like' button on this forum from time to time...anywho, sounds good to me, anything that'll add a little flavour is good.
On level 3 he entered Hell's Arena
He nuked the competition into submission!

Nuking the Unholy Cathedral needs to give a message relating to Robert Oppenheimer's quoting of 'I am become death, the destroyer of worlds.". Glorious irony.

I would go with something about lack of fair-play for the arena myself.
Also, City of Skulls:
All that was left were a few scattered irradiated skulls.

The nuking of the UC can do something with turning its unholyness back with the help of the fire. I don't really know how to explain that this little idea is good. Let's say it comes from Marduk's "Baptism by fire" thing.

Tower of Babel: He foolishly thought that this was the end.
Unholy Cathedral: The Angel of Death could not stop the sunrise.
The Vaults: He didn't take the risk of letting those prizes fall into the wrong hands.
The Mortuary: He didn't waste any time in the Mortuary, he just wasted the Mortuary instead.
The Lava Pits: Hellfire met Thermonuclear Fire and lost bigtime.

I definitely approve of this! It just feels wrong when you nuke special levels and you don't get even a message for it.
Spider's Lair: All that remained were a few bits of metallic webbing.

There was exactly the same point in my message, because: "The Wall: He obliterated the Wall with a well-placed bomb." wasnt on the Wall 1, 2 or 3 CD, for shure.

Nuking special levels really could use some flavour text in the mortem. Perhaps we should start a small bounty for it? :P

I definitely support (+1, i guess) this idea. Making thermonuclear bombs more awesome is okay in my book. It might even make me use them more often...

With regards to not being around: uni takes up a fair bit of my time. What's left gets eaten up by the vidya games, as I got my hands on a fairly decent laptop some time ago. As soon as I get a some sort of wireless network dongle for my neglected PC, I should be around more, even if it is just on IRC.

Let's get some ideas flowing over here! I can't be the only one with the writer's bones in my body. We definitely need better suggestions for Hell's Arena, the Chained and Unchained Courts, and probably The Mortuary as well (unless we decide to go with what Klear said back in the OP)

I just remembered something: Hell's Arena has 3 waves, and I think that one nuke only clears one wave. So, there might be a need to have three different messages for nuking Hell's Arena depending on which wave it was, or rather, how many nukes were set off in Hell's Arena.
So, two things. Firstly, someone needs to test it on AoRA to see if the nuke that goes off then only clears wave 1 or everything. Secondly, realise that it is almost impossible to get three nuke-like things going on Hell's Arena, which is dlev 2/3.

It's possible to nuke the early levels on AoPc as well... And you could theoretically get the Trigun on lvl 2 in a vault, right?
But it's impossible to survive until invulns start to appear.

Technically we could change things up by checking the LF_NUKED flag: that is, if you nuke, regardless of wave, the level is "completed". Of course, it's literally impossible to survive a nuke at Hell's Arena (and, for that matter, The Chained Court) because of the lack of accessable invulnerability at that time, so it's a moot point.
Is there a distinction between nukes that were survived and nukes that weren't? Because it's easy enough to just add an exit text for each special level when said level was nuked (ignoring the fix for removing standard nuke text as necessary), but that wouldn't show up if the player died in the explosion. In general this isn't a bad idea: we could also include some broader sets of flavor text in entering/beating levels, dying to enemies, etc.

Can we give each version of the Chained Court a different nuke message? If so, this comment may work better for CC, note the level exit text.

Ok, I started implementing this, but there's an issue -- there are two cases -- one is a nuke armed when one is exiting, and the other is nuking a level. The former is easy, but the effect of the latter depends on the level. Suggestions?

Same message for both? Or would that lead to duplication if it's a suicide bomb?
