Imps on AoB haven't given me THAT much grief but I've only played on ITYTD/HNTR so they could be a lot worse on UV. In any case, the strategy seems to be to zig-zag at him and hope for dodges (if you don't have Dodgemaster, which you won't as a Vampyre), Running helps.

On that challenge, it's typically Sergeants that give me the biggest issues of the "low end" enemies.

Okay, I've got some more questions:

1) On weapon restricted/Pacifist challenges, can you still nuke with the Nuclear Plasma Rifle/Nuclear BFG/Trigun? Haven't tried it but don't want to do anything that relies on it without knowing.

2) I've tried starting Angel of Pacifism as a Scout but I can't seem to see the stairs? Angel of Red Alert says areas can't be scouted, but AoPc doesn't say that.

Oh yeah, fixed the title now.

I noped out of at least some levels early for my own safety, or just not wanting to hunt down an enemy in an annoying place. At least, I think that's it.

I skipped Hell's Arena (kinda painful as a low-level melee-locked character), The Wall/Containment Area (Nothing to punch through with) and The Vaults (no Staff because no Arena). Don't quite remember which ones I didn't complete, I'm afraid.

EDIT: Looking back through my History, Halls of Carnage is the only one without the completion quip, so I guess that was the one I didn't fully clear. I don't know why.

After getting so close to winning AoB as a Vampyre Marine a few times and then trying some more as a Blademaster Scout (never getting that far), i gave the former another shot.

I was lucky with getting a Nano AND Onyx mod! I don't know if Powered Red Armor and Lava Boots were the best of use them strictly speaking but both of those served me VERY well this run, actually. Between the Power Armor and the Nanofiber Red I put together earlier, I didn't have to worry about Armor, throwing out a whole boatload of Blues and Greens, I did hang onto the Lava Armor I found as a backup though. Meanwhile, the Lava Boots saved me a lot of hassle in later levels without needing to worry about envirosuits.

I was practically choking on Bulk and Agility mods that I didn't need, I wasted some of the latter trying to make a second set of Tactical Boots and this time A-mod them, but then realised I only had Whizkid 1. At least that didn't cost me anything.

Conversely I was starved for Power mods, it took me WAY longer than it should have to put together my Ripper...

Funnily enough, I discovered that the Longinus Spear + Angelic Armor set seemed to "count" with the former in the prepared slot instead, which is interesting (and helpful!). The AA seemed weirdly fragile in terms of durability though.

I found an Invulnerability Globe close enough to Dis to not need my Lava Element there, so I got to use it on JC! If I held onto the extra nuke I stumbled onto I could've nuked him too but he went down easily anyway.

I definitely got very lucky but in general it seemed pretty simple once I got going even though it was tough at the start, which I guess is how melee builds tend to go. Very happy in any case!

It was the furthest I had gotten in Angel of Berserk (going Vampyre build as you can see), the first time I beat the Unholy Cathedral (maybe even the first time I visited it), I was on track for a Full Win... Then I forgot to chug one of my numerous med-kits at one point in a tangle against Mancubi...

It felt absolutely horrible, to come so close and then totally screw it up. :(

Yeah, that about lines up with experience with ITYTD, HNTR and all the challenges I've actually managed to beat.

I just found the sheer contrast between the number of attempts that flunked out early and how "smoothly" this run went to be funny. :P

I tried this SEVERAL times but finally pulled it off! I decided that Malicious Blades was the way to go, with the lack of late-game ammo worries, and no guarantees of a Chainsaw.

As you would probably expect, it was mostly an issue of getting off the ground. At the beginning I was mostly relying on Shotguns (prioritising the more general prerequisite skills first) and doing that without Shottyman was rough. I started mixing in melee when I had a Chainsword and Brute to help with it.

Once I got Malicious Blades and a pair of Chainswords, it didn't take me long to throw out my ranged weapons and stick to charging at people. Once I had my Cerberus Duelist Armor, I felt pretty close to unstoppable a lot of the time, at least it was quite smooth sailing for the most part.

Lava was really annoying until I got my Cerberus Boots, then not a worry afterwards.

A while after Whizkid 2, I realised after a shameful delay that I should work on replacing my Chainswords with new ones I could slap P-mods on. Shortly after the second one, I found the Butcher's Cleaver and paired that with one of the P-Chainswords, throwing out the extra. This was my final weapon setup, since I didn't find the Dragonslayer or anything like that.

From there, I had modded up more sets of Cerberus Armor as backup, I threw out some Armor I probably shouldn't have (particularly the Nanofiber Red as an infinite-durability backup) and my bloated stockpile of basic mods (no regrets there) to try and make room for more med-packs and other emergency things and necessities.

I wasn't too sure about traits after Whizkid 2, so ended up with extra Ironman/Finesse/Brute because that seemed just generally helpful. Juggler was tempting at the start when I actually did have need to swap weapons, but it didn't have any room to sheen when I finally got pushed to take it.

Only rare mods I found were Sniper mods, disappointing since I wanted Onyx or Nano for Armor...

In any case, I was almost surprised by how simple things seemed to get once I got my Mastery and solid gear, with only a few close calls.

I ended up having to do something like that. I couldn't get it off "read only", so had to look up a way to fiddle with ownership of the folder.

Now I've gotten it to start archiving again.

I'd won (even fully) on ITYTD several times, but had been bashing my head against HNTR numerous times never winning. Mostly aimed for Ammochain but then tried Fireangel and Cateye sometimes.

This time I decided to try Entrenchment and it worked out great! Seemed to suit my lack of understanding of cover and dodging, lol.

I was lucky enough to find a Nano mod and build myself a Nanomachic Laser Rifle + P, and things went VERY smoothly from there! Found a Sniper mod towards the end but didn't find much use for it.

I had made and hoarded too much Armor over the course of the game and had more Technical mods than I really wanted.

After my Mastery, I of course snagged both levels of Whizkid than a second level of Badass since I had the first already, finished off with Triggerhappy 2.

I cleared out the Mortuary and snagged the guaranteed Nuclear BFG and Angelic Armor.

I nuked the Mastermind and pounded John Carmack with ease! I believe I had 727/728 kills.

...But it didn't save my Mortem. Not in the folder, nor the mortem.txt file. Both dated 2016.

I really wanted to share it, as unimpressive to Veterans as it might be, but nope... So I guess we'll have to make do with this combined bug-whine and story.

I'm still happy to beat it, and now I want to move onto the Angel Challenges!

I wonder, does AoPc really require a megaton of reloading to ever get finished? I have spent a good deal of 4h this morning to be able to finish one AoPc (mind you, I went for UV AoPc, with best attempt ended at bruiser brothers, I couldn't past them even with running - maybe I'm doing it wrong?), in the end I went for AoPc+AoOC UV and did 50 more rerolls for a non-revenant start and stuff.

I haven't done the challenge but Angel of Pacifism is marked as "Easy", I figure it might be more down to the combo you chose, that you have fewer floors and thus fewer "free" levels from heading down staircases, plus the game compensates the later start with giving you better weapons which you're now barred from using.

Sounds like a rough combos with the two compounding on each other painfully.

Okay so, I looked in the "mortem" folder in my game folder and it has loads of files from 2016 and earlier but no later even though I've played a load of games since then.

The readme in the folder says to edit the doomrl.ini file and how, but I see no such file. What's going on?

I have moved computers but I'm pretty sure I carried everything over.

And if I may ask a second question, playing Entrenchment Technician and got a Laser Rifle and a Nano Mod. I was thinking of of Eagle Eye and Intuition after Whizkid (grabbing both WK levels after my Master). If I have a Nanomachic Laser Rifle, will EE even really help? If it won't improve my damage output I'll probably just look at other Traits to boost my offence and defence further.

Deleted "save" and now everything seems fine! Did a quick couple of starts (immediately quit one and saved on the first exit the second time) and both times it seemed to clear properly, thanks! Will admit I'm curious how this could've sprung up but it's no big deal.

Hey, been playing this game for a while but now I seem to have a bug where I have a save at Deimos Level 6 on I'm Too Young To Die. I played it through to a partial win and it's still there. Now I loaded it and quit with Q a few times but that didn't wipe it either. I also got a rather strange weapon drop, but I dunno if that's relevant.

I'm using Windows 10, I'm playing the latest version and I copied over from my previous computer, not sure what other details are needed.
