Actually now that you say something, I think it has to do with zerking off an attack from being normal. Everything appears to be fine if you berserk off a globe, further attacks that berserk just add to the length of the berserk globe and work fine. It's possible a berserk globe could 'fix' a broken berserk started from an attack, if I'm correct on the first part.
I do remember one time being able to change my tactics while berserking, but that was ~200 characters ago and I forgot to pay attention to what triggered it. I'd say there is something here to look into to, I'm just not sure specifically what. But I'd start with the attack vs globe berserk first.

After a bit more of playing it seems like if you berserk from an attack and not a globe you don't get the armor bonus. I didn't remember to check, but I think it is also the same time you can change tactics while berserked. Something is definitely bugged.

I think it might have something to do with the new demons, or UC itself is the one where its bugged.
On my last UV conquer game, I tried to zerk against the AoD, but he was hitting 30%, the demons on the room before that I got the zerk from also dealed more damage then expected when I was zerking.

I know it doesn't depend on UC. I was playing a conquerer UV game and I noticed the berserk issue (lack of protection) at dlevel 6, died around dlevel 7 or 8. It makes me sad too, because MVa is my favorite trait, and with a broken berserk, I have to wait for the next version :(.

I visited UC twice on HNTR and once on HMP
On HMP, I entered AoD chamber with no armor on, 150% HP and in zerk state from the trait. Died four turns later, shredded.
On HNTR, I entered AoD chamber at 180% HP, with new red armor on and zerking due to trait. Few turns later, I emerged, having 170% HP and red armor [95%] on my back.
While on HMP, one AoD hit took 15 HP, on HNTR only one.
Now, that is odd.
In other news- AoB is NOT very hard. At least on HNTR. On HMP, it is different story entirely.

If it was only happening in UC, I'd chalk it up to increased damage on higher difficulties, but it does look like Traitzerk armor bonus is borked.

Same thing happened to me today. I was playing on HNTR, and the only traits I had were Brute and Berserker.

Zerk bug = knonw bug = lock.
