Title: Death bug... [CLOSED]
Post by: commodorejohn on October 13, 2007, 13:39
I'm playing DOOMRL 0.9.8.7 on Windows, with sound. The game itself works just fine, but every time I die, it crashes after the post-mortem dump, emergency-saving my game - which wouldn't be so bad (free save-scumming!) except that it saves the player at whatever negative health death occurred at, so restoring from the emergency save results in another emergency save. So it's not a crippling bug, but it's an annoyance.

Line 335 of doombase.pas and line 19 of doomrl.pas are the filenames and line numbers it gave me.

(Did I do it right? First time reporting a bug here.)

Note: It also crashes when I select the high score option on the title screen. I guess that's probably the problem with the post-mortem dump, as it crashes right before displaying the high score list.

Windows, as I said in the original post. XP SP2, to be precise.

Means that your player.dat is corrupted, I reckon. 'T's what caused it for me, anyway. Delete the file and try again.

Yep. No luck.

Even re-downloading won't help? Then it's gotta be something serious with your own computer.

Try changing comp.

Or maybe it's a problem with DNA?))

Figured it out - it wasn't player.dat that was corrupted, it was score.dat.
