Reading the pool results, i found out that the envirosuit was one of the more unpopular items out there. So, after some thinking, i came up with a way to make it more useful.
Envirosuits protect from acid, don't they? And it just so happens that hell knights and barons seem to throw green projectiles, which are probably made of acid too. So my suggestion is this: make envirosuits give you an immunity (or at least a serious protection bonus) against those green balls, which will make them infinitely more useful, on par with other items.

Very good suggestion because now, I don't even bother carrying an envirosuit with me just in case. Except for in The Lava Pits, it's one of the most useless items ever. Because what fool ever wants to take a lava bath?!

This is a cool idea. I often carry one envirosuit pack anyway--they can be especially handy for exploring cave-type levels that are mostly filled with lava, and I find that there is still plenty of inventory space for other goodies--so it's not necessarily that I think envirosuit packs need to be stronger. I just like the idea of having multiple uses for items because it can create interesting choices.
I think full immunity would be a little too strong. Maybe a 50% reduction of damage or +5 armor or something? Having one of these shouldn't make The Wall too easy (:

I think you're all missing a serious tactical advantage given by the envirosuit - no walking monster seems to follow onto lava, and none of them seem to make any serious effort to negotiate a way around a larger pool. This means that in times of dire peril, you can trap a group of barons on one side of a major puddle, and then fire at them from out of LOS. The envirosuit makes this possible without negotiating a path yourself (in which case you would be followed more directly, making this tactic much, much, much less useful).
