Title: Save score.dat and player.dat at mortem?
Post by: Zhakdul on October 05, 2009, 15:37
Hi,

stupid as I am I tend to close the program (via Alt+4 or clicking the 'x' rather) rather than exiting the "normal" way.

What happens is that DoomRL "forgets" my achievements and I have to do them again...

So would it be possible to save all relevant data the same time the mortem shows up?

Regards

Zhakdul.

There are reasons not to (http://forum.chaosforge.org/index.php/topic,1613.msg16298.html#msg16298)...

Yes I see, but my suggestion wouldn't mean accessing the harddrive all the time but only on death (or win), so it would only be accessed every now and then. (And yes, killing consoles probably IS a bad habbit but shouldn't a computer adapt to a user and not vice versa ;-) )

In case of DOOM:RL, that can be quite often ;).
Then again - you have a point. The drive is accessed anyway, because our mortems land in their folder...

Or maybe a "switch" in the doomrl.ini:

SavePlayerOnMortem= TRUE (or FALSE)
