I was going to post this in the bug forum, but then I thought, well, this probably isn't a bug with DoomRL itself.
Anyway, does anyone else here play under Windows 7? I recently started using it, and saw the new release of DoomRL and wanted to play again. Only problem is, I can't seem to get it to go into full screen; alt+enter does nothing, and trying to maximize under the window options just makes the small window go to the top left.
Has anyone had any luck with this? Thanks!
Can't wait to play this new update. :D

Change the font size (and type). That's pretty much all you can do...
-
On this note, i'd really like to have Fullscreen mode fixed. Why doesn't it perform under Vista, anyway?
-
I'm downloading the virtual Windows XP mode thing for Windows 7 and I'm hoping it'll work with it. I can't stand playing DoomRL in a tiny window; it's so much more atmospheric in full screen (to me, anyway) and it just looks better. I have no idea why it won't go into full screen normally though.

Aww, so Win7 can't display the console full screen either? That sucks! >.<
I have found though, that Windows Vista can make the console fullscreen if you're in safe mode, for some reason.
Why it is like that, Iii dunnoow...
-
...and virtual XP mode didn't work either. It just spits out an error about not being able to initialize full screen mode. Meh.
-
Do any other console apps allow fullscreen? If not, then it's an inherent feature of Vista and Windows 7. Apart from changing the font size, you can wait for the graphical version...
-
Yeah, it's an issue with Windows itself.
Anyway, if you set the .exe to load in 640x480 it will automatically switch your desktop to that resolution and back to normal when you close the game. Not perfect and kind of annoying, but it's 'almost' full screen that way.
-
Meh, I've only ever played fullscreen once, on a windows XP loaner laptop. I personally prefer windowed mode.
-
Wow, this is really lame. Makes me not want to use Windows 7.
My other roguelikes might not work, either. Blech.
-
No Rogue that runs in a console window using ASCII will go fullscreen in Vista or Windoze 7 without some dodgy kludges that cause instability. Bill decided that we didn't need a fullscreen console so took out that functionality. Thanks Bill.

The solution is a "semi-graphical" version of DoomRL where the screen is rendered via SDL, but still using plain ASCII. I hope to release that version with 0.9.9.1.
-
Wow.. from there, would a "full" graphical mode just be a changed tileset sort of thing?
-
Nah, full graphical will be more than that ;)

Oh, you tease! :P

Wow, awesome. Thanks a lot, I'm sure there are a lot of us out in Vista/Windows 7 land who will appreciate this. =D
