The new BFG sucks! You can no longer run in the mortuary to dodge stuff, because then your BFG shots miss the archviles 3 times in a row and you die! This change from an awesome weapon to "enchanted rocketlauncher +1" isn't even documented in version.txt! We demand proper punishment to the sick bastard whose idea this was!
Seriously though: for each inventory space you get less than two shots of a rocketlauncher on steroids? The advanced rocketlauncher from The Wall + lots of rockets per inventory space feels much more useful. The old BFG was good, it used up lots of ammo but the shots went where you wanted them to go and didn't miss.
And now for something completely different: an idea for a badge: "% monsters killed on Angel of Pacifism". My last pacifist got 18% just playing normally. Surely something like 40-50% is possible? Don't know about numbers or names for the badges or what it should replace, just throwing the idea out there.

Actually, the BFG is shit at the moment. I totally agree.
It should cost 50 cells, do 11d8, and hit everything in your sight radius + whatever it ends up hitting with the explosion.

Personally, I've never used BFG because of my AoMr or AoSh strategies. But my recent run on 0.9.9 showed the full usefulness of Rocket Launcher, so while BFG is bad, use Fireangel with Rocket launcher. Also very interesting.

While I'll never be able to in a regular game, I can always muck around in TSearch to have the classic BFG in my cheated games folder.
But I wanna have a classic BFG in my clean games folder, too. :sadface:

I agree with the original poster's sentiments on the changed BFG precisely. It's now merely a bigger stronger rocket launcher, the loss of the ability to precisely determine where exactly the shot will explode has taken away most of its utility, and it's now definitely not worth the 40 power cells it costs to fire it.

Yeah, I read your mortem post and it got me wondering... Then after experiencing the suckitude that is BFG9000 in 0.9.9 personally, I decided to make this topic.

That's what I thought. Had trouble finding it though. Looked all over the forums and the doomrl website and no mention of it anywhere. Turns out it's well hidden on some strange website I've never visited before called chaosforge.org. Thanks for posting for me.

I heard the BFG10K still explodes on target and that it can damage the player. Are either of these true?
