Post by: Midnight on November 03, 2009, 07:03: Hi everyone. I've lurked on this forums for quite some time, but the release of the new version finally pushed me to register. The new version is fantastic. Good job, Kornel!

Anyway, I decided to share my latest AoB endeavor:

You use a large med-pack. You feel fully healed. The Cyberdemon reloads his rocket launcher. The Cyberdemon hits you. You hit the Cyberdemon. The Cyberdemon hits you. Your Angelic Armor is damaged! You hit the Cyberdemon. The Cyberdemon hits you. Your Angelic Armor is damaged! You hit the Cyberdemon. The Cyberdemon hits you. You hit the Cyberdemon. The Cyberdemon hits you. Your Angelic Armor is damaged! You hit the Cyberdemon. The Cyberdemon hits you. You use a large med-pack. You feel fully healed. The Cyberdemon misses you. You hit the Cyberdemon. The Cyberdemon dies. You feel relatively safe -- General --------------------------------------------------- Before him 49 brave souls have ventured into Phobos: 40 of those were killed. 1 of those was killed by something unknown. 1 didn't read the thermonuclear bomb manual. And 4 couldn't handle the stress and committed a stupid suicide. Some rumours though, say that the Cyberdemon was killed already! Is he immortal? 3 souls claim to have killed him... 2 killed the bastard and survived. 1 showed that it can outsmart hell itself. --------------------------------------------------------------
I got kind of lucky with the Mortuary. I found an inv. globe right before the entrance, and I also had a nuke with me. Total obliteration of viles ensued. Unfortunately, nuking the Mortuary does not grant you the golden reaper badge, it seems.

Vampyre turned out to be an awesome trait, but I have a question: does it give you health for ranged kills? 'Cause it's description is kind of vague.

Okay, a few things regarding stuff you said:
Nuking levels such as the Vaults, Unholy Cathedral, and The Mortuary won't net you anything above silver. I learnt that when I nuked the Vaults, and asked Aki about my lack of gold.
Vampyre would seem to be a given, wouldn't it? I mean, I haven't seen many ranged blood-drinking (scary thought o_O)
And lastly, I was always under the impression that nuking a level destroys special spawning items such as the Angelic Armour. Dammit guys, stop telling me crap!

But like I said: good run. AoB in 35 and a half minutes.

Then my Alucard build for the Ao100 is kind of useless now. Oh well.

As for nuking the spawn items: since they spawn after you nuke the level, they are not effected. The same goes for the enemies: in earlier versions, nuking a level with a pain elemental would result in some lost souls still remaining after the blast. I don't know if it was fixed in 0.9.9.

True, but someone told me (Aki? Thomas? Can't remember..) that it was a mechanism built in to punish you for taking the easy way to the item.

Post by: raekuul on November 05, 2009, 10:15: You do not get the Loningus Spear or the Angelic Armor if their respective levels are nuked (this was true in 0.9.8.10 at least). If I can get an early Trigun in a hacked game, I can test Spider's Lair as well.

The AA on the other hand...I don't know.

EDIT: Nevermind. I nuked the UC and the LS was still standing. Is it made out of Onyx or something?

Post by: Jarkko on November 08, 2009, 17:18: Good to know that the Vampyre build is also useful. I got my 0.9.9 AoB win with the Blademaster build and was happy with that but it's nice that there is an alternative, might have to go for another with the Vampyre.

LS is spawned after you kill AoD, you can't run around him, pick it up and use it in the fight.

Also know that Nuking the Vaults might not get you the Gold badge but it does give you Baron Armour!

I found it on a Baron of Hell corpse so he probably equipped it which saved it from destruction, either that or uniques are nukeproof

Post by: UnderAPaleGreySky on November 08, 2009, 21:26: The LS IS already in the level, buried in the wall behind AoD's spawn point. Kornel has since confirmed that LS is nuke resistant, as it had to be made to survive the Cathedral being destroyed.
