Title: Thermie made into a special level reward?

You know, I really like my thermies. For lots of reasons: their icon uses a bright blue which is appealing to the eye, they have a nifty 'are you sure' message before use, and make a BIG BANG!

...but they're quite rare, don't ya think?

Ignoring the occasional fluke where they're abnormally abundant, I usually only see one every other game. This is bothersome to me, because I like blowing things up, so I was thinking, couldn't there be a special level that gives a guaranteed thermie as a reward?

It could be called "The Factory" or "Demonic Battlefield" or something similar, and have a thermie as a reward for completing it.

Seems like a good idea to me.

If you're looking for a guaranteed thermal detonator, I hope you don't mind spiders. Take a look at the special levels again. ;)

Spiders lair is a 100% sure thermie when you complete it, but everyone always seems to ignore the place.. I wonder why

Odd, the wiki entry for the Spider's Lair doesn't mention that you get a thermie.

Also, I've never actually SEEN the the entrance to the Spider's Lair, and this is odd since I've beaten the game about 5 times. Do I have to do something to gain access to it, or is it just random?

I think its about 50 - 50 if it appears or not, I usualy see it when I get that far though on UV/N and often, clear it too. But I'm not sure if there's any special recruitments for it. Also, the wiki is somewhat outdated, this should be updated to it.

I'd complain, but all this talk is just me building up to wanting easier access to the ingredients to access JC. I've beaten him once, and been killed by him twice, and I just resent having my access to him being a luck-of-the-draw type deal as to whether I get an invulnerability orb within the last stretch or not. Heck, the first time I killed him, I used a nuclear plasma rifle to annihilate Cybie as opposed to an actual thermie.

As I recall, the main reason that the Spider's Lair might not spawn is if you've got another special level that's spawned in the level range where the lair would be.

Spider's Lair only has a 40% chance of appearing in any given game.
