In my inventory I have these lines...
[e] shotgun shell (x50)
[f] shotgun shell (x48)
Is there a way to combine 'em into one slot?

Ammunitions have a maximum stack size value. If you are lucky enough to happen across a Backpack (you'll know it when you find it, it's only in one location currently) it will expand the amount of ammo you can have in each slot.
So, to answer your question directly: No, you cannot.

But it would be much more handy if they stack into one with size of two. It's annoying to see inventowy full of small medikits (or ammo piles) .10 lines of equal information.

Okie doke. I'll keep my eyes open for a backpack. Thanks!

Close them. It's only lies in The Wall, where it's guaranteed to get. There are no other ways to get it.

Short of a bug in Ao100...

No offense, ZZ, but sometimes people don't want to be told.

Lol true.
But I do think I see a point in the topic. Instead of five lines of ammo piles, combining them into 1 pile, but limiting the space in the inventory just the same. Something like a Weight system, so you would have a maximum inventory space, but you wouldn't have to see all items individualized as they are now. Or stacking items (like ammo) into one inventory line, but they take up 2 "slots" in the inventory. A number could be listed beside the item in the inventory, telling how many slots the stack takes up, and ammo stack sizes would not have to be changed or adjusted for a weight system. Some users would wonder about why the inventory goes from A-U to A-T or less, but it should be an easy enough concept to explain in the instructions.
And if you don't read the instructions... how did you learn to fire?

Well, spacebar's not doing anything. Other roguelikes use f, t, or v for projectile weapons typically, so let's try f... oh, there we go! That's how I use my pistol.

And if DoomRL is the first roguelike they've ever played?

"Why is the left-click not shooting anything? Where's my aiming reticle? Damnit... why doesn't ANYTHING work?"

That's how I was, so I had to read the instructions. I don't I got to even starting the game, since the menu isn't driven by clicking, so I had to figure out the keyboard-only facet, and go to the Help section.
