Title: Allow me to join the trait suggestion spree
Post by: Fanta Hege on October 20, 2010, 00:11
Well I've had thise ideas going around for a while allready, so why not?

I think some people might remember this one..

Fastest Of The West
"Faster than my own shadow.."
Requires; SoaG(3) Jugler(1) SoaB(1)
Blocks; DualGunner, Hellrunner, Brute or Reloader

Back in earth, you were the fastest gun handler around, this clearly impressive party trick now shows its true potential! As now your first shot to a non hurt opponent in your line of sight is completely free of firing time cost and you gain additional 10% faster firing speed.

And then for something completely different.

Skin Of Steel
Requires; Ironman(3), Badass
Blocks; SoaB, Finesse, Hellrunner or Reloader

You were tough as all hell before.. Now you're even tougher! Nothing can break your defence, not even that flimsy armor you're wearing. Any armor you now wear will no longer suffer durability loss at all.

The Big Guns
"I need a gun.. A big gun"
Requires; Reloader (3), Wishkid (1)
Blocks; TaN, SoaG, Shottyman

You love a big gun.. You love em even more when they wreck havoc. Thats what you're here for, now aren't you? Any splash damage you cause now has +3 more area of effect and increased knockback, you also take less damage from your own splash damage on top of it, but only from your own.

Yeah, I remember this one. I remember liking it, too: a single-pistol build that emphasizes a high offense strategy. Juggler lets you swap out pistols so DG is less important, and the firing speed increases make up for the DPS loss.  DG/HR blocks are natural, but maybe it should be EE as the third (justifiably, a shooter aiming to be the fastets can only work so much on his accuracy).

Certainly...interesting. I'm not sure it's worth the benefit so much, especially since the blocked traits practically force a shotgun build (even if Rel is blocked) and there's already MAD for that (if it isn't). Basically, I'm looking at something almost specifically made for a Pacifism Diamond build, or an equally-minded run down Hell.  I dunno, I think it has to be a little more inclusive of SOME kind of weaponry before it would be get considerable use in a game.

Also, I'd go for "Steelskin" rather than "Skin of Steel": just sounds cooler to me.

The Big Guns
"I need a gun.. A big gun"
Requires; Reloader (3), Whizkid (1)
Blocks; TaN, SoaG, ???

Something for the RL and BFG users, I like it. Should probably have it block TaN, SoG and Shottyman, just to rule out liberal use of the other weapons later on. Keep in mind that explosive weapon users have to be careful of running out of ammo, since there's the matter of destroying it before they can pick it up. This will make it so that they use the attacks when necessary and bring out a less-powerful chaingun or plasma rifle or something for precision strikes.

Well EE could be a blocked one, but then again it would be kind of a turn off from the trait, considering you're gona have a hell to level with 1 pistol. I'm not really sure if EE should be blocked or not, even though this would be a somewhat powerful trait, I'm not sure if its powerful enough to justify a EE blockage.

Well I'm not entirely sure what weapon would fit with this, one I had in mind was meelee, but this trait was pretty much in mind for pure defence, thus why the offense trait blocks.
And steelskin would fit probably better but I was trying to do a bit of a duke reference with the name. =P

Shottyman would probably work. Personaly this would probably work like you said, ammo use reducion would be somewhat hard to implement eitherway but this trait should make causing general destruction easier. What I had in my mind to add in this was that the explosion you cause no longer effect ammo/items in the ground but that would probably give this trait way too much benefits.

How about making ammo on the ground *explode*?
Explosion size could be varied depending on ammo type, and would be kept within a well-balanced area, but this would serve to 'lose less' from destroying ammo on the ground, not to mention being more in keeping with the idea behind the trait (big explosions).
