Title: slight command tweaks

Unload should work on the weapon in your hand, in addition to the ones in your inventory.
fire shouldn't require a weapon in hand (to melee a door - if you can punch armored demons you can punch doors)

Both requests have their issues:
1) unload -- how do you imagine it interface-wise once you press "U"?
2) fire with unarmored melee -- also, this would be a source of mistakes in the UI... anyway, a melee attack has STRENGTH_NORMAL which doesn't deal damage to inanimate objects

I'd imagine that you press U, see the list of your weapons (just like it is now but including your equipped ones).  If some wiseguy has 21 weapons in his inventory, he can just remember that the two he can't see ('z' and 'y', or 'v' and 'w') are the prepared and equipped.

Presumably the goal of a melee attack against doors is to allow AoB to clear paths for strategic barrel placement.

This could be done in other ways, I would expect - my suggestion would simply be to allow barrels to be moveable through open doors.
