What can I say? I had some time to kill. :)
Despite what the mortem says, it wasn't 2 straight days of gameplay. I finished the first 50 levels in an 8 hour stretch on Sunday, (including breaks to eat) and just left the game running when life got in the way and I had to go out all day on Monday, but I kept at it, playing a bit more here and there until I finally finished Tuesday afternoon.
By level 20 or so, things were pretty stable. I found a nuclear plasma rifle (which was a huge boon, especially after I bulked and powered it up) and apparently, though it doesn't recharge itself while in your main inventory, it does recharge when it's in your "prepared" slot. Taking advantage of this and the "Juggler" ability, I would hit the enemies with a plasma barrage, swap it into the prepared slot to recharge while I pick off survivors with the combat shotgun and chaingun, then destroy the bodies with the rocket launcher so they couldn't regenerate. Wash, rinse, repeat. Using this strategy I was able to completely clear most of the early levels, especially after finding the Necroarmour on level 35, at which point it just became a cakewalk.
Things became tense again around level 55 when the RNG decided to fuck with me by plunking me into a crowd of Barons and Arch-Viles with little cover and nowhere to run. They beat me down to my last med-pack and for a while, I thought I might lose after all, but I managed to get my med-pack collection back up once I got into the 60's and after that, I just decided to forget about clearing the levels and just focus on getting to the exit. (I was at character level 20 by then, so my experience was maxed out anyway) Otherwise, I might have gotten a near 100% kill rate.
I found the Anti-Freak Jackal on level 90, which helped in clearing away bodies, since I didn't need to rely on the rocket launcher so much, and the Trigun that I found was responsible for my first ever Gold Cluster UAC Star, since I used it to nuke three consecutive levels. Muahahaha! :)

Before him 705 brave souls have ventured into Phobos:
628 of those were killed.
2 of those were killed by something unknown.
34 didn't read the thermonuclear bomb manual.
And 18 couldn't handle the stress and committed a stupid suicide.
Some rumours though, say that the Cyberdemon was killed already!
Is he immortal? 23 souls claim to have killed him...
6 sacrificed itself for the good of mankind.
13 killed the bastard and survived.
4 showed that it can outsmart hell itself.

O.o
Thou are God.
Now we need someone to do it in 9.9.2 where Cybie starts showing up randomly along with all of the other special baddies!
-
That's...uh...
Well, I suppose there are a few things to comment about.
- Supposedly Ao100 is a lot harder in 0.9.9.2. Haven't played any besides a round on HNTR, but I would assume so based on the nightmare caverns and generally more hectic layouts. Maybe this is why you played your Nightmare! run in the old version, I dunno.
- One of the badge reorganizations in 0.9.9.2 is that N! Ao100 win nets you a Diamond, not just a Platinum. This ALSO makes me wonder why you wanted to do it in the old version.
- You did this on a non-MAc run? WTF? Nuclear plasma rifle was practically a godsend, can't imagine you surviving past floor 40 without one.
But I don't mean to undervalue the victory: bravo! My own N! Ao100 was mostly successful (and eventually trivial) because of an Ammochain/BFG10K combo, the godsend in my own game. You, sir, have entered the very exclusive club of Dervis Medallion holders.
Once again, congratulations. (Also, two days? Guess you had some sleeping and overall living to do in between.)

*Sigh* Yeah, I've been putting off downloading the new version, mostly because I know I will feel compelled to earn my badges all over again, and this game has sucked away a lot of my free time as it is. I must confess that I've been addicted to this game for the past few months and now that I've earned a couple of Diamond badges, I think the addiction is starting to wane and I think I need to take advantage of that to break away while I can. I don't mean to knock the game per se; DoomRL is an awesome game... almost too awesome... The new version sounds really interesting... I'd probably find it even more addictive than this one and then I'd never get anything done in real life. (The other "RL") ;)
I'll probably get around to downloading 0.9.9.2 some day, but I think it's about time I focused on other priorities. (Hell, I say that, but just you wait... I'll probably start playing again in a few minutes) :P
-
But but... you like assemblies right? And MFAF? And other cool cool stuff? Like the enhanced Armoury?
Right? Right?
/me gives a hopeful look
-
Ha! I think you'll find that I'm not very susceptible to peer pressure. :)
Although...
Now we need someone to do it in 9.9.2 where Cybie starts showing up randomly along with all of the other special baddies!
Randomly spawned Cyberdemons?!? :o That sounds pretty intense! I'd like to see that!
* Shakes head to clear it *
NOOoo!! Must... resist... temptation! :P
(Okay, okay, maybe I'm a *little* susceptible to peer pressure) ;)
We'll see...
(I probably shouldn't ask, but what does MFAF stand for?)

(I probably shouldn't ask, but what does MFAF stand for?)
(You should play 0.9.9.2 and find out.)

Not to mention single-monster type levels... and the ultimate ending!
Really, Ao100 is sooo much more interesting these days... not to mention the stuff you can assemble...
-
Curse you for making this game so good, Kornel! Curse youuuuuu!
(I mean that in the nicest way possible) ;)
I still haven't downloaded the new version yet, but I did end up playing the old one all night. *Sigh* So much for curbing my addiction. :P
