All you guys getting Berserker Diamond, I had to get in on the action. Turns out as long as you're willing to commit an afternoon to 50 deaths, it's not that hard.

Before him 424 brave souls have ventured into Phobos:
380 of those were killed.
4 of those were killed by something unknown.
2 didn't read the thermonuclear bomb manual.
And 16 couldn't handle the stress and committed a stupid suicide.
Some rumours though, say that the Cyberdemon was killed already!
Is he immortal? 22 souls claim to have killed him...
3 sacrificed itself for the good of mankind.
19 killed the bastard and survived.

All that spare armor, HP packs and hellwave was for if I ever ran out of berserk. Turns out when you have Azrael's Scythe you have about a 50% chance on every hit to go more berserk, so that didn't happen. (How to balance AoB: Make the chance of berserking directly proportional to the square root or maybe even cube root of your damage instead of whatever it is now)

Also beta, I see. But that's good, it makes me feel better about my own run! (Isn't the new layout so much more enjoyable for early-game AoB?) Moreover, VERY impressed by the Blademaster victory. It's believed that the best use of MBm is in N! due to double healing, and this only helps confirm the belief.
I also did/completed Mort, by the way. Turns out all my Viles were on the same side...
I guess a logarithmic chance would work, but that doesn't address the "issue" of perma-zerk, which makes these kinds of runs practically trivial once you get to the point of slaughtering anything in your path. Better yet, there should be diminishing returns per activation. The first is something like 20 right now, but you could have the next 19, then 18, etc, until it's just one per activation. This will force times of non-zerk, which truly tests the player. (Berserk Packs won't be diminished, however, and could possibly reset the diminish.) If anything, Blademaster would be hurt LESS by such a change, because it uses less "time" while zerked.
For Kornel: the Scythe requirement is currently bugged, if this (and my own) run has anything to say about it.

I think the fact that I won with 150% HP and lots of medpacks despite not getting vampyre is pretty telling of how much health and armor you need in a N! AoB run.

Really? Dang. Mine were all scattered around, but with as much berserk time as you get from azrael's scythe, a couple of laps around the mort doesn't really do much to your chances of de-serking anyway.

Ah, this makes more sense. I was also thinking of the early game though, because if it was logarithmic then he'd have to increase the coefficient or base chance, which means that you might be able to berserk off a combat knife more than one time in a million.
For Kornel: the Scythe requirement is currently bugged, if this (and my own) run has anything to say about it.
I don't think it's bugged because I'm pretty sure Kornel said something along the lines of "For now it's just random with an increased chance as you play higher difficulties" or something.

It is bugged actually. There's a requirement that's supposed to be enforced that currently isn't taking effect. It's just random right now. In the next release it will require you to do a truly amazing feat.
EDIT: In retrospect it's not that amazing for many players on here. But for the majority it won't be easy to get.

I think that it probably helps that Fin increases attack speed for melee attacks also -- combining that with MBm means that you kill faster the more you kill, which is fast to begin with.
