Title: DOS Box and commandline [NOT A BUG]
Post by: schnaader on November 28, 2006, 03:46
DoomRL 0.9.8.5 windows version
Windows 2000 Professional

Two minor "bugs"/odd behaviour:

When running DoomRL.exe from command-line in a DOS box, the window loses focus and I have to switch to it with Alt-Tab to use it. Sometimes it even minimizes. Same behaviour when running it from Windows by double-clicking DoomRL.exe.

After playing DoomRL (quitting in menu or getting killed), "wav" appears at the command-line and behaves like it had been typed at command-line. Seems like a hangover of one of the sound routines or something like this.

Actually it shouldn't run in DOSBox at all, cause it's a windows app :-|. As for Windows -- I never experienced such a thing... did anyone else?

I meant running it from a Windows command-line window (cmd.exe), not running it with DOSBox. Sorry for that misunderstanding.

I just checked earlier versions of DoomRL, namely 0.9.8-win, 0.9.7-win and 0.9.7-dos.
All of the windows versions have the focus/minimizing bug. However, I can't remember having this behaviour before, so it seems to be a problem with some of my current Windows settings. Since no one else seems to have this bug, it can be disregarded.
The DOS version showed right behavior and went to fullscreen, but this is true for all DOS apps since they can't change window behavior.

However, the "wav" thing didn't appear on all earlier versions.
