Before him 49 brave souls have ventured into Phobos:
41 of those were killed.
And 2 couldn't handle the stress and committed a stupid suicide.
Some rumours though, say that the Cyberdemon was killed already!
Is he immortal? 6 souls claim to have killed him...
1 sacrificed itself for the good of mankind.
5 killed the bastard and survived.

Here's a video of the run. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgbXLYQLUPA)
For those who don't know, HA Pwnage Medal requires you to beat N! Hell Arena (like the Arena Platinum badge) without taking any damage. To do this, I use the following strategy:
- Play on AoMC. This makes tactics less luck-based and I rely only on lucky spawns for each wave in order to make the strategy work properly. The benefit is that my weapons are ridiculously powerful and can be used to reliably take down enemies from outside my vision.
- Farm ammo. As long as I get captains and sergeants on dlvl2, this is easy. Most of my inventory was filled with only ammo by the time I entered (as you can see in the video). Ideally I'd want a combat shotgun, which I have here, but it is NOT necessary (as the chaingun is more than capable of mowing down just about everything).
- Wait for Cacos to group in the center. This makes killing them a whole lot easier, since it becomes quite predictable where they end up. Pillar position in the Arena is somewhat important for this, but most of my attempts (including this one) did not have placement issues.
- Once the Cacos are dead, begin corpse-stacking. I explain it pretty well in the video, but the idea is to kill enemies on top of corpses, thereby destroying the corpses that used to be there. This is vital before reaching the Barons, since they will require all of your firepower and you want as few enemies running around as possible.
I highly suggest watching the video for a good idea on how I completed it. It's somewhat boring, but all things considered I am playing the game pretty quickly and it STILL takes almost nine minutes. The key here is caution, and AoMC gives you the advantage if you heed it.
-
That's pretty cool, I think I'm going to try it. I was thinking for the last cacodemon corpse that you could stand on it to prevent it from raising then lure a demon over after the demon raised, but I should probably test it before I say either way. It'll be a nice break from diamond runs though.
It did get me thinking about recording an under 6 minute AoPc run. Not that it'd be very informative, but it'd be amusing to watch.

Awesome job and good video. This was well thought-out.

Game Hunter, you are a frickin' hero.

Seeing you, Thomas and AStranger post all these awesome mortems makes me feel pretty pathetic when just completing the standard game on HNTR is a challenge for me. Great video though, very informative.

Don't see it that way, really... what I think is that DoomRL is a very fun and challenging game to any kind of player, whether it be a total noob or the most elite expert. And you're always nicely rewarded for new accomplishments no matter if it's in bronze or in diamond. :P

It's worth noting that we all had to start somewhere. I still have a pretty strong hatred for AoI from when I still wasn't very good at the game and it was required for the next skill rank. I eventually got it, but it took me a good amount of time. The game didn't get any easier, I just got a lot better at it.
