I'm not sure if I'm the only one but this kinda has been bugging me in this version a lot..
The current rate at which rivers seem to spawn is nearly every game when it comes to the first few levels, it seems bit un balanced.
Now why am I saying un balanced? The thing is, the rivers seem to cause this little thing due of the current enemy behavior;
If you're playing a normal game, thise levels will be easy as the river lets the enemies stack up to the middle even faster.
If you're playing a meelee game, you're most likely gona die as the enemy stack to the middle even faster and you lost a lot of cover and lure spots, and you all know how many shotgunners there are in the early game.
Now this doesn't really bother in the mid game or later game as you're bound to get harder enemies, more acid and lava eitherway or have a berserk trait if you're a meelee, but in early game they seem to be bit of a nuinsanse/easy modo depending what kind of a game you're currently at.
Ofcourse alternativly, having rivers appear more on the sides and not at the middle all the time would also be nice.

I think rivers should appear less frequently overall...
(especially those very conveniently placed horizontal ones 9_9)
But aside from that, Fanta, you must also keep in mind that enemy AI will be improved. In that it will behave uh... less magnetic towards the center.

I agree that something has to be done concerning rivers. They're a nice touch and add an occasional extra dimension to encounters, but it annoys me that most (if not all) of the time, they're out of place - a river inside a building with rooms, cleaving through walls at random and creating situations that are more simply inconvenient than challenging.
