I remember when I started to play Doomrl the Strongman Bronze/Silver seemed impossible to me.
I didn't know of the Malicious Blades badge.
At ITYTD Arena is easy even with a modded knife. On Chained Court the Arena Master took 2 knife hits and die (probably due to the surrounding formers). On Phobos Hellgate I ran past Bruiser Brothers.
When I entered The Phobos Arena I was Invulnerable, and when Invulnerability expired Cybie was almost dead.

On Chained Court I didn't get the chainsaw fearing to lose the silver badge, but I didn't understand if it is possible get the chainsaw for the berz bonus and then change weapon without losing the badge.

I'm certain that you could have picked up the chainsaw and switched back to the knife w/o ruining the run - so long as no enemy died while you were wearing the chainsaw.

I've done that a few times, picked up the chainsaw for the berserk bonus and switched back to knives or fists and still got the badge. Good luck with fists only; on ITYTD, it's actually easier to get than you might expect.
