not sure if anyone has heard this or not, but I like doomRL and I find this is more fun to listen to than the midis.

anyway, enjoy :)

Cool!!!

Thanks for sharing the info! Could you prepare ini-bindings for it like the ones that are already for Paul's MP3's? I'm sure a few people would be interested :).

woah, someone set up bindings for mp3s? I just have been using winamp lol.
I'll have to look into this ;D
-
Oh please... you call that THE doom music? That's nothing compared to these...

check this one out
I made some binds here n there. If you want I'll upload them.

Davidos: Cool, I absolutely *love* the Weeping Cathedral track! I miss there my favourite Halls of the Damned, though.
-
Yes, they are pretty cool, i like heavy music! But imho they are little overloaded, atmosphere of original DooM is sometimes lost. Personally i prefer Classic DooM soundtrack (http://forum.chaosforge.org/index.php?topic=499.msg4418#msg4418), i like many artifical harmonics there)).
-
Yeah, agreed Blade. But what I really miss is a good reedition of "Running from Evil" :(.

Yeah, yeah! I love solo there so much that learned first two pieces of it on guitar! It is quiet difficult, belive me))
Why you don't like version from here: http://www.sirgalahad.org/paul/doom/ ?
-
Just uploaded one more version of "Running from Evil". Maybe you had heard it. It is not very different of midi, but my concern is to share what i have. It is limited url. Map1.mp3 (http://rapidshare.com/files/6822719/01.mp3)
-
Hmm, maybe a forum user upload option would be nice, huh? :)
But if it's simmilar to the midi version, then I'm sure I've heard it.
-
That used to be the original sound track for DOOMHQ, I hated it...
-
Not bad some remixes.. :D .. I'll ask some friendly DJ's what they can do about the original DooM Soundtrack..
Maybe a Trance DooM? :D
-
I'd like a good remix of "Running from evil" please :D
-
I'll ask Manuel Le Saux if he is interested in remixing that.. Yesterday I was speaking with him after the TranceGate here in Milan..
Well, I'll ask.. we will see. :)

Hi there, new to the forum.
DoomRL has actually been the reason why I installed a software midi synth (timitidy++) as my standard windows midi driver, and hunted the web for a large and good soundfont. I also just checked Paul's Version of the soundtrack and the Classic Doom files. Paul's sound generally a deal better than what I get, but there are some flaws; Bunny is IMO horrible with most soundfonts and not much better in Paul's mp3, i really prefer what I currently have (http://www.uni-koblenz.de/~smaxein/bunny.ogg (http://www.uni-koblenz.de/~smaxein/bunny.ogg), rendered with AirFont340) in that particular case. Also, the compression he applied is quite audible in some places and I think it takes away a bit of the atmosphere.
Now this is coming from someone with virtually no knowlege in music production, but it's something I've wanted to try for quite a while, and I'm going to have quite a bit of free time coming in about 2-3 weeks. So I might try to remix some music from doom, which would by popular demand include "Running from evil" :-)
I can't promise anything, but the worst that can happen is some badly done music hitting the web, which happens so much anyway that noone would notice.
Edit: Well, I was a bit fast on the keyboard there, the Classic Doom Soundtrack definitely sounds better than anything I could whip up. I could still do "Running from Evil", though it remains to be seen if it'd be a good remix. Don't hold your breath ;).

A good Running From Evil remix is what I dream about xDDDDD. BTW, would you be interested in doing a few remixes for my new upcomming roguelike? Or anyone else for that matter? All I can award for it tough is Beta access :/.
-
Don't forget about special uncoloured title for him(or her).))
-
Coloured title of Chaos Knight in this case. And don't worry, you'll get a chance to get the coloured title (and beta access) next version, with the first official challenge ;].
-
I banned myself from them. :-\
It won't be interesting for the others if i will win it again.

I won't promise anything, because as I said, that would be my first remix ever. First I'll have to find out if I'm any good at it.
Maybe I should have waited with posting until I actually had something done. :-)
-
Well, do the DII Running from Evil, and we'll see what you're made of xD
-
A first attempt: I used the original midi-file and simply assigned instruments from different soundfonts to the channels, which I thought sounded fitting. Then I did some editing (reverb, equalizer, volume and stereo adjustments) and you can listen to the result here:http://www.uni-koblenz.de/~smaxein/Runningfromevil.ogg (http://www.uni-koblenz.de/~smaxein/Runningfromevil.ogg). Consider this a WIP please, and I'd love to get feedback.
-
Sounds overly cool! Dunno how to give feedback about it, some parts sounds like they could use "louder" instruments, the 2:18 part onward sounds pretty nice, perhaps a "sharper" guitar would sounds cooler tho?
-
Thanks. I'm not too happy with the guitar as well. I even considered playing the part myself, but gave that up quite fast after trying it out. I'll continue working on it when I've finished my next exam, which will be this friday (I'm studying Computer Science).
